"After All These Years"

Chuck and I at my parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary in October 1982. That's my Oma in the background.
Who would have thought when I agreed to go on a blind date this is where I would be 35 years later. I imagine you are thinking I accepted a blind date with Chuck. Wrong! It was with a friend of his. Chuck's friend and I dated casually for a month or so before he introduced me to Chuck. That was it! It was love at first sight. We started dating January 28, 1982.
Dancing at a friend's wedding in August 1983 wearing the same outfit!
Silly I know to celebrate a dating anniversary but it is a date we both remember. We were married 7 months after the above photo was taken.

Kim kindly took this photo when we were visiting her last Fall.
Here we are today, well a few months ago. Yikes, where on earth did 35 years go???
The dreary weather continues. We have received very little snow over the course of this week. The gardens and lawns have no snow on them.
A Mourning Dove has been hanging around the yard but not coming down to the feeders yet. At our other home I remember it took around 7 or 8 months for them to finally come to the feeders.
Look, a patch of blue sky! Very fleeting but nice to see.

Today also is the 40th anniversary of the Blizzard of '77. I remember it very well. Anybody else remember it?

Have a wonderful weekend!
Robin

  1. Happy dating anniversary! I don't think I knew (or at least remembered) that you met Chuck through someone else you were dating (i.e. blind date). Fate! It looks like you had your hair cut in the second pic -- it looked cute!

We do have a bit of snow down, overnight, and we're supposed to get 5 cms today. At least the snow squalls missed us yesterday.

I do not remember Blizzard '77! I was 13 and still in Gaspé...did we get it too? Beats me!

Have a great day and weekend. :-)

    1. Hi Kim, I don't know that I ever mentioned how Chuck and I met.
We still haven't received any snow except for a few flurries yesterday. The weather forecasters were very wrong with that forecast!
I don't think you were in the Blizzard of '77. I believe it was a Southern Ontario-Western New York storm. It was pretty fierce.
      Have a good weekend too.

  2. I love these photos! You two sure have aged well (or not aged very much)! In that first photo, I thought that was your PARENTS at their 25 anniversary. That was a bit shocking. At first I couldn't remember the blizzard of '77. Then I remember skidding on an icy street in NYC and hitting a parked car. Ah, THAT blizzard of '77!

  3. Good morning, I should edit the post and state that it us I guess! We were pretty young when we met. I was 17, Chuck was 21.
I was hoping a few people would remember the Blizzard. It had such an impact on our lives for a few days. Some family members were stranded, someone was pregnant and just about to deliver.....I am sure lots of stories about that time.
Have a wonderful day in paradise!

    1. Thanks Marcie! I have managed to hang on to most of the photos from when we were dating despite all of our moves.
Yes, less than two months until Spring! If only we could see the sun once in awhile.
      Have a good day!

I knew the moment I met Chuck that he was the one!

    1. Thanks! It is incredible to me that it was 35 years ago.
The Blizzard was a southern Ontario, western New York happening. It was rather scary for a few days!
      Take care.

  11. Oh you were ( and still are) so cute. And so young even now you look very young. Lovely memories, huh?
My hubby and I also started dating at the end of January but that was 1962. I was 16 and he had just turned 19. He was a good friend of my brother's and that's how I knew him. So much has happened in the 54 years since then!!!

  12. Congratulations on 35 years...hubby and I just had our 40th anniversary last summer. Down here we had a blizzard but it was in 78...the weatherman was just talking about it the other day. I forget how deep he said the snow drifts were. Either 17 or 21 feet...it just about shut down Terre Haute, Indiana. The factory we worked at had to shut down for two or three days.

Thanks for visiting my blog....yours looks like one I would/will enjoy visiting. I blog sporatically...my husband had a stroke about 4 days after our anniversary. Anyway, he is recovering...gets around good, though still room for improvement. Working on other stuff...anyway, I may blog steadily for a week, then skip a day, two days or more.
