A Sad Stone House

A week or so ago I mentioned an abandoned old stone house a few blocks away from us. Tuesday morning seemed like a good day to pay a visit. Up until a few years ago it had been occupied. It was put up for sale and sold very quickly. Immediately  there seemed to be alot of activity going on inside and out. It did have very nice gardens and had been well kept. Then about a year ago all work ceased and it was left. It is such a beautiful house and on the outside appears to be in decent shape. Someone (who shall remain nameless) did not want me going up to look in the windows.  I did get a bit closer and took the photo below of the side door. I remember my grandparents old farm house had a door very similar to this.  I am shocked that some of the windows have not been broken. I would love to see the inside.

Work continues on the kitchen. It is a beautiful day here today. I hope it is where you are!

  1. If I were tall enough, I think I'd have had to take a peek! :-)

I'm surprised, too, that windows haven't been broken and the place ransacked or otherwise destroyed by graffiti, etc.

I think it's a reasonably decent day here, though it was cool at lunch time when I popped out for something to eat. Can't wait to go home in another hour!

    1. I am dying to take a peek inside! If I could get Chuck to boost me up I think I would be able to see in.
Looks like an o.k. weekend weather wise. Hope you and the boys enjoy it Kim. Take care.

    1. I wanted to but SOMEONE was worried we would attract attention. It is on a rather busy road. Have a great weekend.

  4. Ah, that's a beautiful old house. It seems sad that it's vacant. If you ever do get inside, be sure to take pictures for us!
