Memories

I couldn't figure out why I was feeling so sad these past few days and then it hit me. The sixth anniversary of my Dad's death is in a couple days. As I have said in the past we were very close and I was devastated when he died We were so much alike, I am noticing more and more the older I get. He loved photography and usually was behind the camera where I prefer to be too.My Uncle Art took the photo above of my Dad, my brother, my Mum and I in Sudbury around 1970. I don't know what my Mum has on her head. Something to keep her beehive hairdo anchored down I guess!
I know I have shown this photo before but I asked my Mum about it the other day. She clearly remembers my Uncle Bob taking it. My Dad was snoozing in my Grandmothers backyard and I crawled out to him and hauled myself up to crawl onto his lap. So much for my Dads nap.
I have so many pictures similar to this one. Dad behind the camera and the four of us in front. My Dad farmed with his father and older brothers on the family farm up until around the mid sixties. Then with too many farmers on one farm and not enough income my Dad had to find another job. He took an electrical equipment sales job which he excelled at. He hated being behind a desk stuck inside so on weekends we travelled around Ontario. We loved it and spending lots of time with my parents. I know we were very blessed to have spent so much time together.

We finally got some much needed rain last night. Three inches!

Oh, by the way, the kitchen photos did not turn out very well so the photographer came back this morning and took additional ones. We previewed them and these ones are much better. I will post them when we get the official ones.

Take care.

Robin

  2. Looks like you grew up in a loving happy family. Your dad was a handsome man. I love seeing old family pictures. My dad died in the 1970's at the young age of 61. I still have days that he is on my mind and I would love to tell him how much I love him.

  5. Anniversaries of the passing of loved ones can be hard to get through. You are fortunate in having good memories of your dad.

I did have to grin when I read your comment about your mom's headgear. Looks kind of like a halo.
