Wednesday.

After a couple not bad days we are expecting a couple days of freezing rain and snow. Hello Spring! I took these next few photos a few days ago when we had a sunny day. The suet cakes are quickly being consumed. The Grackles, Red Winged Blackbirds and Starlings have discovered them. This woodpecker managed to get a turn at it.
Enjoying the sun on the deck railing.
 That piercing eye!
The maple sap was running too.
I took this one this morning. He has suet all over his beak.
Chippy on one of his many forays to the feeders. I put shelled peanuts on this cement block.
Junco on the neighbours arbour. The buds are getting bigger!
What interesting looking birds. Starlings are so common you forget to look closely at them.

I hope you are having a good week.
Take care!
Robin

  1. Love all the bird and critter shots, as I always do. You're right about starlings. I actually don't get a chance to see them super-close; they're actually wonderfully marked.

Best to stay indoors tomorrow, I think -- I hope neither of you has to venture out. We'll see what comes. Probably more freezing rain here than anything. But surely that will be the end of winter? Fingers crossed!

    1. Thanks Kim! Always something at the feeders to take photos of.
We didn't venture out at all today. Way too icy! We mostly got freezing rain which it still is doing now.
Hope you got around today safely.
      Take care.

  3. That Starling doesn't even look real. Little Chippy looks like he has the peanuts in his mouth. Your pictures are really good!

    1. Thanks Henny! I managed to get a clear photo of the starling. They zip around so quickly most of them were blurry.

  4. I wonder if you are being hit by that storm today. I hope you don't lose power. Stay safe as you can!

    1. We didn't get hit as bad as they originally thought we would. Lots of freezing rain but this morning it is starting to melt. We are supposed to get some wind today so hopefully we don't lose power!
      Take care.

  5. Rain here today. Terrific shots of your critters. Love the mourning dove and the starling is quiet pretty and sparkly looking.

    1. Chippy had a very easy winter this year with it being so mild. He seems to be living under a neighbours deck now. Maybe there will be some little Chippy's this year!
