"A Little Kiss Each Morning"

Spring has definitely sprung around here. The bird feeders are emptied every day and baby squirrels are visiting.
I didn't realize I caught this until I downloaded the photos. The squirrel on the upper right was eating and the other squirrel surprised him. That is bird food flying in the air.
The Maple trees are budding up. I noticed the lilac is getting good sized flower clusters too.
The male Goldfinches are almost all yellow.
Side by side with the male the female Cardinal often gets overlooked. She is very beautiful in her own right.
Rather windy the other day. The spot where this squirrel is sitting is very popular with all critters. I have even seen Sweet Pea sitting up there.
Yesterday morning's sky. Again I didn't notice the plane trail until later.
Has anyone else tried these "chips"? They are so good! I am not a big chip eater (except at Kim's, she buys such yummy ones!) but I do like these. A serving of 15 "chips" has a little over 100 calories and just 3 grams of fat. Our local Almost Perfect store had them in last week. We bought two bags for 99 cents. A few days later I went back and purchased six more! We are not big snackers but it is nice to have a few "chips" in the afternoon to ward off the hungries until supper time.

Busy weekend coming up. Saturday we have to go to the "big city" (Belleville) to do a number of errands. Sunday we will be visiting my Mum. She has had a rough week spending most of it in hospital. She recently turned 83 and is not in the best health. She is having heart and breathing issues, 40 years of smoking is really catching up to her. I would appreciate any prayers for her. Thank you.

Have a great week-end!

  1. Lovely photos, Robin! Great sky shot with the vapour trail! I think most, if not all, birds (well, all critters) have something "beautiful" about them in one way or another. Not necessarily "beautiful" by our standard definition, but something remarkable, amazing. :-)

All our prayers, purrs and Light to your mum, hugs to you. ♥

  5. I will pray right now for your Mom. Your bird pictures bring a smile to my face.....so precious and colorful. And those acrobatic squirrels - they are fun to watch! I can't wait to see your lilac. Thx for sharing about the chips. I like to have a snack like this for the days I get so terribly hungry mid-afternoon.

    1. Hi Mildred, thank you so much for your prayers. The squirrels are hilarious to watch. I think they are getting to know me now. I went out on the deck to fill the feeders and a black one came towards me instead of running away.
Sometimes around 4:30 my tummy starts growling and a quick little snack is what I need! A few of theses chips and I am good until suppertime.
      Have a lovely weekend.

  8. Oh the courting cardinals. I love to see the male, feeding the female, some little tid-bit. Woooooooooing her, in the spring. So sweet...

    Your photos are beautiful!!!

I certainly like all the "NO's" on that bag of chips!!!! We try to eat things, with those "NO's"! Best to not buy any processed foods. But I understand, how it is nice, to have some sort of "chip" in the house.

Best of everything, with/for your mom. So sorry, about this consequence. -sigh-

    Gentle hugs,

    1. Hi Luna, I do enjoy watching the male feed the female too. For some reason they have taken a liking to the dry cat food I have out on the deck for the visiting kitties. Quite often I have seen the male in the bowl snatching a crunchie.
Thanks for your kind wishes for my Mum.
      Take care.

  14. You certainly have some colourful birds where you are and I like the black squirrel, just greys here. Such a worry when our parents get older. My Mum got to 82 and am hoping I get there too, although its coming at such a rate it feels as though it will be next week, lol
Hope your Mum is comfortable, that's the best thing to wish for I think when we get old.

    1. Hi Chip Butter, the bird in the maple tree is a Grackle. They are quite handsome but rather like a bully in a schoolyard they push the other birds around. But when the sun hits their head and it turns an iridescent blue you ten to forget that!

I doubt I'd find those chips around here but maybe other companies will realize that many of us are looking for crunchy snacks that are reasonably 'healthy'. Sometimes nothing but crunchy will do, and I don't mean celery.

    1. You crack me up Granny Marigold! No, celery wouldn't do for me either if I want a crunchy snack!
The goldfinches are gorgeous this time of year. Sometimes you will just see a streak of yellow across the yard as they whiz by.
Thank you for the prayer for Mum. I appreciate it.

The chips are delicious! I am not a big chip eater but put chocolate in front of me and watch out! There is no way I can go from our 6:00am breakfast until 12 noon without a snack. I do have yogurt and fruit in the mid-morning but in the mid afternoon I feel like a treat!

  26. What beautiful pictures! I love a couple of the ones of the squirrels! Wish I had a bird feeder. I am waiting to see if any birds wander into my year before I purchase one here. We have moved in a courtyard community and the houses are pretty close together. I loved to see the cardinal on the bird feeder in the snow when we lived in our house in Michigan. Nice that you can enjoy your nature around you! Nancy
