"Girls On The Beach"

What a fabulous time Kim and I had! The weather forecast wasn't the greatest but we ended up with perfect weather.
As you can see by Smokey and Miss Kitty the weather has turned warmer. They were flaked out together one afternoon.
Cortes popped by one morning. His head is looking a little small compared to his body in this photo!
Kim has a more detailed post about our days so head over to her blog! We visited Wicklow Beach one morning. It was perfect, not a soul in sight! We dunked our feet, skipped stones and had three HUGE carp come almost right up to us in the water.
We visited a few thrift stores. If you remember Louie lives at the Northumberland Humane Society Thrift Store. He was out back enjoying the lovely weather so we headed out to visit.
Of course we had to visit my favourite farm market, Rutherford's. It was quite a warm day so not many animals out. The rooster was enjoying the shade in one of the covered areas.
I couldn't let Kim go home without seeing all the great critters at The Big Apple. We went first thing in the morning so it was pretty quiet. This goat was gazing up at Kim after she stopped scratching him.
We had a quick stop at Twindmill Antique Market too. I spotted this painting and just fell in love with it. Not too thrilled about the frame but the Cardinals are so beautiful.
We had a terrific visit from start to finish and the time goes by so quickly. Looking forward to Kim's next visit!
Saturday Janice and I went to an Art Festival that was taking place in our downtown. I don't quite get the connection of a man on an Ostrich (?) with art but he was terrific anyway!
This was my prize of Kim's visit. Kim gets full credit for me having this! She is so strong, I could not have lifted this. With such high water levels so much driftwood and logs have washed up on local beaches. Now that the water has receded a bit people are picking up all these wonderful items. I thought this log was perfect for a table/plant holder/ seat so wanted to bring it home. Kim got it to the car and lifted it out again at home. My hero!
Sunday Chuck and I visited Colborne and found a wonderful store called "Lots of Stuff" It is a mixture of old and new. I spotted this purse and of course was attracted right away to the cat on the front. The initials are mine without the R for my first name. The tag stated "Vintage Hand Tooled Leather Bag" You know it came home with me!
Look who showed up! It had been over a month since we had Punkin come for a visit and I feared the worst. He looked terrible last time I saw him. He looks much better although is thin. He has come two mornings in a row now for breakfast.
Cardinals on and off at the feeder.
Miss Kitty has taken over the log for now. She posed so prettily for me yesterday afternoon.

I hope everyone is doing well. I will be visiting all your blogs this week to catch up.
Have a wonderful week!
Robin

    1. Hi Cheryl, I am very pleased with my bit of driftwood. I never could have lifted it myself. Miss Kitty does look lovely. She sat up there for a few minutes allowing me to take a number of photos.
      Have a good week!

    1. Hi Vicki, I saw the log the previous Sunday when Janice and I visited the beach but didn't want to ask her to put it in her car, it is rather fancy. Our car is no where near fancy so I was determined to get that log. Punkin does seem to be improving. He barely had any fur left around his neck from all the fighting he was doing. It has grown back now. He seems very shy though where before he came right up to me.
      Take care.

  3. I think that's Miss Kitty's log now. She's obviously claimed it!

    1. Hi Valerie, yes, Miss Kitty does seem to have claimed the log. I noticed her scratching it yesterday afternoon. Anything for the kitties!

  4. It was a lovely visit, Robin. I wasn't sore on Friday after hauling that log, but I sure was on Saturday and Sunday.

I don't get the man on the ostrich either. I'm just glad it's a fake ostrich!

So glad Punkin still is kicking, poor thing. He's probably not even that old, just beat up. He and Smokey.

Oh and sure, flaunt that cardinal photo at me....

    Take care!

    1. Hi Kim, Oy, so sorry you were sore!
At the art festival there also was a lady mountie on horseback. I didn't get a photo of that though.
Punkin really does look much better but he has gone rather shy where he wasn't before. I don't think he is terribly old as you say, just worn out from fighting.
I did question the cardinal on why he didn't show up when you were here but he had no answer! ; )
      Take care and talk soon!

  5. You always seem to have such neat days with Kim.
I had to grin at the rather unimaginative name of the store "Lots of Stuff". It's sort of like my This and That posts when I just can't think of anything that suits. You, on the other hand, always have such catchy titles.

    1. Hi Granny Marigold, Kim and I always have a wonderful time together. We enjoy some many of the same things it makes it very easy to be with her.
Yes, the store name isn't very imaginative. but an accurate description of what is in the store.
My titles just come from an idea from one of my photos and then I find a corresponding song title.
Have a great week, enjoy those blueberries!

    1. Hi Mildred, glad you enjoyed all the photos. It is a post full of kitties isn't it?
Iam loving my cat purse. When we visited my Mum on Sunday she remarked she had a similar one but with birds on it. Then Janice saw it and she stated hers had horses on it. I didn't have one back in the 1970's ( I didn't carry a purse until the early 1980's) but I can enjoy it now.
      Have a good day!

  7. I love your posts, Robin, and the photos are all beautiful! I love thrift stores, they are such fun places to find treasures at great prices! Louie is beautiful, (as are the other cats). Louie looks very much like my cat, Romeo! He is 4 years old, black and white, with a "white diamond" on his forehead. Thank you so much for sharing, I love everything in your photos!

    1. Hi Karen, It was a wonderful two days. Aren't we lucky to have the opportunity to meet other bloggers?
The cardinal photo was for Kim as she was so looking forward to taking a few shots of the cardinals but of course they didn't show up the whole time she was here.
I went back and looked at the other photos I took that day of Cortes and it does seem his head is rather small compared to the rest of him. It is like his head stayed kitten size while his body grew to full grown cat size!
      Enjoy your day!

    1. Hi Pom Pom, yes, Kim was determined to get that log for me! I might have been able to get it into the car floor but she managed to lift it up and put it in the trunk. She does her errands on the weekend by bus so is very strong from lifting bags of groceries and everything else needed in her daily life.
I am just so glad to help the few stray kitties. It horrifies me to see something or someone going hungry.
      Be well!

    1. Hi Linda, it is a terrific beach. Very easy to find. We drove along Highway 2 to Cobourg from Brighton. There is a small sign on the right as you come into Wicklow that says "Wicklow Beach" Hang a left down the road and follow it all the way down. The store I got the purse from is right on the Main Street in Colborne.
Hope we get the sun back soon!

  12. Too much to know where to begin...I love the log that came home with you. It is perfect for the cats to pose on. I love your shot of the cardinal and also the cardinals you found while shopping. I do not get the man on the ostrich either.

    1. Hi Rose, the log is also perfect for the kitties to scratch on too! When I was feeding the birds this morning I noticed it had been clawed on one side.
I would have loved to buy the cardinal print but I believe it was $150.00. The frame isn't my first choice and would not have gone well with our other prints/paintings so it stayed in the store.
My best to you and Roger!

    1. Hi Vix, I was really pleased to spot the "cat bag" sitting on a shelf. Not living in a large city vintage items are tough to find. It always floors me when you show on your blog on the wonderful items you find at thrift stores. I one day have to come to the UK and go thrift shopping!
Glad you enjoyed the photos. Your recent festival was incredible!
Cortes is a cutie. For some reason Miss Kitty just loves to chase him around the yards. No hissing and yowling, she just seems to get such a kick from chasing him.
Hope you have a relaxing week!

  14. Another thoroughly enjoyable photo blog, Robin! I loved the man in the ostrich costume. A classic and skilfully put together. Glad to see Punkin is still around and I do hope he recovers his health. Like you, I would not resist rehoming that driftwood block.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the post! Janice and I spotted the man in the ostrich costume in the Sobey's parking lot getting into his costume. He was up on the stilts already and was fitting the ostrich body around himself. As he was putting on the safari jacket and hat an elderly lady walked up to me and kept commenting she couldn't understand how the man was doing this. I didn't want to say anything but she then asked me point blank what was going on. I told her the ostrich legs were stilts and the mans legs were inside the ostrich body. She thanked me and wandered off. I felt terrible telling her!
I could have brought home so much more driftwood but my car is tiny! Hmmm....maybe another trip this weekend with Chuck this time!
      Have a good week!

  17. YOu had lots of nice adventures, but.... that first photo caught my eye. ,-)

Look at the top of your first (sky) picture. See the little white "spot", to the left? And see the "like-movement" pale place, to the right? Look! You'll see what I mean. :-)

Maybe... Just maybe.... The white "spot" is a faerie. And the "like-movement" blur, was caught, as she flew past...

    Maybe?

    Maybe?

It horrified me when we moved into this neighbourhood last year to see all the stray cats. We are right on the edge of town with a number of farms close by. I assume people are dumping the kitties at the farms and they make their way into our neighbourhood.
      Take care!

Enjoyed the pictures of the adventure and glad y'all go to go! Walking along with your feet in nice cool water....nothing beats that, does it? Your cardinal picture close-up you made is very pretty, nice and bright! Is it hot where you live? It's awful hot here!

The purse is very sturdy and well made. I was thinking if needed you could really clobber somebody with it!
Walking along with your feet in the cool water is the best thing. We do get pretty hot here but by September the really hot, humid days are behind us.

Maybe find someone who tools leather for a hobby and see if they could add an R above. Looks like there is room. I know there is a local group or guild where I live in southern Ontario. Cheers. What a wonderful idea about the purse! I didn't even think of that. It does look like there is room for an "R".
I will have to ask around to see if anyone knows of a leather craftsperson.
