"Walking In The Winter"

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Ours was quiet with a few visits to family and friends.
It has been a wacky month of Winter so far. Extremely cold and very mild  and everything in between.
We pretty well have had constant snow too which I happy to have for the gardens.
Cortes paid a quick visit one mild day.
Smokey and Miss Kitty at suppertime last night. These two are constant . Smokey is getting braver and letting me pet him now. His fur is very soft and thick.
Miss Kitty is as beautiful as ever. When I was young I was allergic to all animals. This past six months or so my allergies have flared up. I can't / shouldn't touch the kitties but it is very hard not to!

 More incredible skies!
This was so brief one night.
 oh my!
Lots of rabbit poop under the feeders but no rabbit sighting until a week or so ago.
The birds are back at the feeders for the Winter.

We are incredibly blessed to have access to a number of wonderful parks in our little town. One is a five minute walk away.
Janice and I walked the trails last week and had a wonderful time.
We did both the Cedar Loop and the Hardwood Hill Trail. Finally they have marked the trails and trees so you know where you are going.
It was just so peaceful and quiet.
 Busy pileated woodpeckers I assume.
It allowed me one brief blurry photo before shooting off to the top of the tree.
But this guy stayed around. His name is Otis and he is six months old. His Dad walks him in the park everyday.  He was adorable!
Proctor House Museum in the fog on Friday. It was in the 50's that day but by nightfall it had gotten quite cold. We had a flash freeze. No fun driving or walking!

That pretty well has been my month. Chuck is taking some well deserved time off shortly which we are very much looking forward to. No getting up at 5:30 for awhile!

Hope you all are well.
Take care.
Robin

  2. Hi Robin! How lovely to see a blog post, I've missed your wonderful pics. (Those sunsets!) And you've gone for a brand new look too, for your blog. A new year, new template. :-)

I'd probably be most of the day in Proctor Park, especially by the water. Wouldn't want to leave!

Stay warm today and enjoy the sunshine. It's not dark at 5 PM anymore; yay!

    1. Hi Kim, thanks for the kind words! I still come upstairs everyday at sunset to see what it looks like. Just wanted a plainer look for the blog, not so busy.
I hope to have many walks in the park once Chuck is off work. It is a great workout!
I definitely noticed yesterday it is staying lighter longer. I looked out at 5:00 and it still was light.
      Talk soon!

    1. Hi Vicki, yes, I do love the squirrels! Our kitchen table is right beside the window where my feeders are so they do entertain us.
      Have a good week!

Love the new look of your blog. Is your header picture one taken of your house?
Your sky pics are great. We had an awesome sunset a few days ago and I tried to capture it but my camera just didn't manage. Take care,

    1. Hi Granny Marigold, Good to hear from you too! No, that isn't a photo of our house on the header. I would never be able to arrange things as nicely as that!
Glad you liked the sky pics. We are really blessed with having the perfect window to take them from. Too bad your photo didn't turn out.
      You take care too!

    1. Hi Dee, Otis was adorable! He covered Janice and I in kisses much to the embarrassment of his Dad. He is trying to train him not to jump up but he loves all the ladies so much his training goes out the window.
It wasn't too cold on the trail and by the time we got to the top of the hill we had pulled off our hats and opened our coats. Can't wait to walk it again.
      Be well!

  10. Thank you for sharing your latest pictures and walking adventures, Robin. Excellent junco photo. The light has to be exactly right to capture their eyes among those dark feathers and you nailed it. Oh, and Happy New Year to you and Chuck. It's so nice to see daylight lengthening!

    1. Hi Florence, nice to hear from you. It is tough to get a decent junco photo. The face always seems to blur together.
