"And Winter Came..."

Hi everyone! Hope you all are well.  Chuck and I have been enjoying his time off from work. Wonderful not to hear the alarm clock!
A few day trips here and there with a few more coming up.
One very cold day we popped down to Cobourg and walked on the beach. It was beautiful! We were able to walk out on the ice a bit and get a few photos. Only one mishap (I stepped down into what I thought was solid snow, it wasn't) where Chuck had to haul me out of the snow!
It has been a weird winter weather wise. Lots of snow in the beginning of February and plenty of cold.
Sundog!
Right now we are enjoying a warm spell with much of the snow melting.
Lots of squirrels as usual!.
The junco's are very faithful and at the feeders in all kinds of weather.
Many opportunities for wonderful moon photos!
We are getting out for many long walks.
Digging for peanuts.
One of the warm days Punkin showed up. We hadn't seen him since December. Miss Kitty went out to greet him.
The last few weeks we have been seeing Robins. So wonderful to hear them chirping!

Take care and have a great weekend!
Robin

    1. January was a breath takingly cold month Mitchell. And it just seemed to go on and on.
Just being 1C or 2C seems balmy now.

  2. Terrific photos! The last snowstorm dumped a lot of snow around here, but hopefully the warming temps will make it melt away. Am very ready for Spring!

    1. We seem to be having robins chirping every morning now. The morning doves have started cooing too. It does seem a little early for this. Hopefully they know something we don’t!
Punkin is looking much better. It was lovely to see him.
      Take care!

    1. Hi Mildred, that was a first time for me viewing a sun dog. I called Chuck upstairs to look at it and he told me what it was. It was lovely to see Punkin, he was as cuddly as ever. I will email you, would love to stay in contact!

    1. Hi Cheryl, glad you liked the photos! I only managed that one photo of the squirrel standing upright and he ran off. I think he was peering over a snowbank.

  11. It's lovely not having to obey the alarm clock :) I like the junco photo. You have so many interesting birds at your feeder. The light house photo feel almost other worldly. (Is that a light house on the pier at Cobourg? Long walks in mild weather so that explains the robins! I always feel a happy shiver when I see the first one!

    1. Hi Maggie, hope you are relaxing on your time off.
The birds are not as plentiful at the feeders as in other years. I don’t quite know why!
Yes, that is the lighthouse at the Cobourg pier. I wanted to get a photo of it without the snow fence they put on the beach in the frame so we had to walk out on the ice a bit. That was when I had the mishap in the snow!
I love seeing robins this time of year too. They have been coming each morning for a week or so now.
      Take care of yourself!

    3. Hi Laura, nice to hear from you!
I find as I get older I appreciate winter more. Having great parks and Lake Ontario within walking distance sure helps!
The crew here is ok. Smokey seems to have a bit of a cold but hopefully he shakes it soon.
      Have a good week!
