Hot,Hot,Hot

Happy Mother's Day everyone! The photo above was taken in the late 1960's. That's me my Mom is hugging and my older brother and sister on either side of us. My Mom is now 81 years old. She is still really on the ball and has a wacky sense of humour.(I guess that's where I get it from)We went to visit her last weekend as we had some commitments concerning the new kitchen this weekend. I brought her a bag of books and a number of small gifts. She lives in an apartment in my brother's basement so he will be taking her out tomorrow. I know how blessed we are to still have her.

The kitchen is now stripped of all the appliances so I will set up a mini kitchen in the basement with the appliances below. I think we will be alright for cooking.

Too hot already outside. It is 25 degrees C (around 80 F) in the shade today. We did the yard work early  and it was still quite hot.

Enjoy your day.

  1. Looks like a good kitchen to us. Good idea. Beats going out to eat. Great picture of you and your Mom and sister and brother. You have a good week end too.

    1. The old (current) Kitchen was o.k but some of the cabinets were falling off the wall and the previous owner had a dog so some of the lower cabinets were scratched. The new kitchen cabinets are maple painted white.

  2. Ha! The minute I saw the clothes, I knew that photo must be from the 60s. (I'm in my early fifties -- and my parents are in their eighties.)

  4. Looks like your temporary kitchen will work just fine.
Good idea so you don't have to eat out every day, though some of those days will be nice too. : )
Nice picture!! I was 10 in 1960 so would fit right in with the picture. : )

  6. It's awesome your mom still is alive and obviously hale and hearty enough to live on her own. A separate unit in your brother's home seems like the ideal set up.

It's a great old photo, btw. I have a few from my childhood, but I think Dad has most of them (and more on slides than in print). OMG, my mom would make the most hideous printed dresses for me, all the colours/patterns of the day, particularly orange. ::Shudder::

  7. Kim ,my Mom made most of my clothes when I was young. I never really cared (beyond nothing could be green!) what colour my clothes were. She liked to make us contrasting outfits. I never was a dress girl so my Mom respected that. There probably was some pretty hideous outfits but none stick in my mind.
