"Ducks On A Pond"

Kim took the train down yesterday and we spent a great day together. She is an early riser like us so she caught the early train and was here by 8:20 a.m. After a quick stop for  a snack we realized it was early yet, no stores would be open. Kim loves animals as much as I do so a trip to Reid's Dairy seemed like a good idea. The animal area opens very early in the morning as the dairy is open for the farmers to bring in their milk.
As long as we have lived here (30 years) I think this pond and fenced in area have been here. All the animals and birds are spoiled rotten. Everyone had just been fed when we arrived.
The goats are very sweet and love to come to the fence for a cuddle and scratches.  We witnessed a tussle between the two goats but it happened so fast I didn't get a photo.
I believe these are the baby geese I photographed a month or so ago.

A few sparrows and this red winged blackbird were getting in on the free food!
I love the slash of blue on the duck's wings.
Turtles, turtles, turtles! I think we counted 10 or 12 of them perched on this board. It originally was a small dock but has sunk over the years. I wish someone would build them another one!
Most of the turtles scattered when we approached them. We waited quietly and 5 or 6 came back so we were able to get some photos.
Kim and I had a wonderful day from start to finish. Thrift storing, antiquing, yakking, laughing……I showed her our new home and the community where we will be living (4 weeks today!)
Thanks for coming down Kim!
Meanwhile back at home the feeders are as busy as ever.
Hot and humid again last week. I know to some people this temperature is not hot but with the humidity factored in it was 104.
This is how a I feel on hot, humid days. I have a number of these rocks around our backyard. The critters make good use of them!

I have been procrastinating about packing. I must get started! When we went for our first walk through on our new home on Sunday I saw the current owners have begun packing.

Cooler today but the hot, humid weather is coming back by the end of the week. Bring on Fall please!

Take care.
Robin

  1. Thank you for a fabulous day! A very big pleasure. :-)

LOVE your shots! You got great close-ups with your zoom. I ought to have brought my Fuji for better shots, but it's so heavy. No matter, I enjoyed every minute of the day, would love to have a spot like the little animal "sanctuary" here and accessible to me.

Enjoy this one day of relative "cool" weather. It's going to be wretchedly hot and humid the rest of the week. As much as I loathe, just loathe winter, I find these sticky, sweltering days and nights really hard to endure.

    1. It was such a fun day Kim! My camera is heavy too, but I wanted to get some decent photos of the ducks. I didn't have to carry it on a train!
I am enjoying this cooler weather. Actually had to pull the blanket up on the bed during the night I was so cold!
      Talk soon.

    1. Thanks Karen! All I had to say to Kim was "Do you want to visit the goats?" It is wonderful to have a friend that enjoys so many of the same things I do.

    1. We had to be patient and slowly approach the turtles. It was worth it though to get the photos.

    1. It was a fabulous day! Kim and I enjoy many of the same things so it makes it very easy to spend time with her. I just wished we lived in the same town instead of an hour apart.
