"A Little Kiss Each Morning"
Spring has definitely sprung around here. The bird feeders are emptied every day and baby squirrels are visiting.
I didn't realize I caught this until I downloaded the photos. The squirrel on the upper right was eating and the other squirrel surprised him. That is bird food flying in the air.
The Maple trees are budding up. I noticed the lilac is getting good sized flower clusters too.
The male Goldfinches are almost all yellow.
Side by side with the male the female Cardinal often gets overlooked. She is very beautiful in her own right.
Rather windy the other day. The spot where this squirrel is sitting is very popular with all critters. I have even seen Sweet Pea sitting up there.
Yesterday morning's sky. Again I didn't notice the plane trail until later.
Has anyone else tried these "chips"? They are so good! I am not a big chip eater (except at Kim's, she buys such yummy ones!) but I do like these. A serving of 15 "chips" has a little over 100 calories and just 3 grams of fat. Our local Almost Perfect store had them in last week. We bought two bags for 99 cents. A few days later I went back and purchased six more! We are not big snackers but it is nice to have a few "chips" in the afternoon to ward off the hungries until supper time.
Busy weekend coming up. Saturday we have to go to the "big city" (Belleville) to do a number of errands. Sunday we will be visiting my Mum. She has had a rough week spending most of it in hospital. She recently turned 83 and is not in the best health. She is having heart and breathing issues, 40 years of smoking is really catching up to her. I would appreciate any prayers for her. Thank you.
Have a great week-end!

Lovely photos, Robin! Great sky shot with the vapour trail! I think most, if not all, birds (well, all critters) have something "beautiful" about them in one way or another. Not necessarily "beautiful" by our standard definition, but something remarkable, amazing. :-)
ReplyDeleteAll our prayers, purrs and Light to your mum, hugs to you. ♥
Good morning Kim, there is beauty in everything as you and I seem to always notice in the everyday things.
DeleteThanks for your kind thoughts about Mum and the hugs. I really appreciate it!
Talk soon.
I love that you captured the birdfeed in the air! Those squirrels are sure cute. I will add your mom to my prayers. I hope you have a good visit with her.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, total surprise when I downloaded the photos. I had to think for a moment what the heck it was!
DeleteThank you for your prayers for my Mum. She has had a rough go of it for the last couple weeks but seems to be on the mend.
Take care.
Hello Robin, I love your pretty birds. The Cardinals are my favorite. The chips sound yummy. Sending my prayers and well wishes for your Mom. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, glad you enjoyed the photos. The chips are delicious!
DeleteThanks for your kind words.
Take care.
What a beautiful photograph, it brings a smile to my face, it's so sweet to think of them having a kiss. I hope your mum has a better weekend and things start to feel better for her xx
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, glad you liked the photo! It was such a split second thing, I only was able to take one and the male flew off.
DeleteThanks for your lovely words about my Mum.
Have a good weekend.
I will pray right now for your Mom. Your bird pictures bring a smile to my face.....so precious and colorful. And those acrobatic squirrels - they are fun to watch! I can't wait to see your lilac. Thx for sharing about the chips. I like to have a snack like this for the days I get so terribly hungry mid-afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Mildred
Hi Mildred, thank you so much for your prayers. The squirrels are hilarious to watch. I think they are getting to know me now. I went out on the deck to fill the feeders and a black one came towards me instead of running away.
DeleteSometimes around 4:30 my tummy starts growling and a quick little snack is what I need! A few of theses chips and I am good until suppertime.
Have a lovely weekend.
Beautiful pics! I am amazed with the black squirrels. We do not have those in TN. I love the American Gold Finch. They are so bring and colorful!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, glad you enjoyed the photos. I thought about you as I was posting the black squirrel photo.
DeleteThe Goldfinches are lovely. You know when they start turning yellow Spring is finally on it's way!
Have a good day.
Love all the photos and most especially the kissing birds. The doves have been kissing here too lately. Ah Spring! Hope all goes well with your mom. Sending the best, warmest healing wishes her way.
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, there seems to be a lot of kissing going on. I managed a photo of the mourning doves the other day. Very sweet!
DeleteThank you for the kind wishes for my Mum. Much appreciated.
Have a great weeken!
Oh the courting cardinals. I love to see the male, feeding the female, some little tid-bit. Woooooooooing her, in the spring. So sweet...
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful!!!
I certainly like all the "NO's" on that bag of chips!!!! We try to eat things, with those "NO's"! Best to not buy any processed foods. But I understand, how it is nice, to have some sort of "chip" in the house.
Best of everything, with/for your mom. So sorry, about this consequence. -sigh-
Gentle hugs,
Luna Crone
Hi Luna, I do enjoy watching the male feed the female too. For some reason they have taken a liking to the dry cat food I have out on the deck for the visiting kitties. Quite often I have seen the male in the bowl snatching a crunchie.
DeleteThanks for your kind wishes for my Mum.
Take care.
prayers for your mum and sorry to hear this.. we have cardinals and squirrels and they are both busy making babies, but none of those adorable yellow birds.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, thanks for your prayers for my Mum. Every critter seems to be busy making/having babies right now. You may not have goldfinches but I imagine you have many other beautiful birds!
DeleteYou and Bob have a good weekend.
Awww, the cardinals are sweet! The finches are sure bright! Sending purrs and prayers for your mum.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the purrs and prayers for my Mum. The finches are a delight to see after a dreary, long winter.
DeleteBe well!
Robin, your photos are gorgeous! I have never seen those chips...but I live in Quebec, so they may not be available in Canada. I will keep your mother in my prayers. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thanks for you kind words about my photos and my Mum.
DeleteWe are in Ontario. The chips, according to their website, are available at Bulk Barn. Does Quebec have Bulk Barns?
Take care!
Nice to see all your backyard critters at the feeder. This first one is really cute!!
ReplyDeleteLots of birds around my feeders too.
No, never had those chips or ever even heard of them.
Yes, I will certainly pray for your Mom.
My mom is still hanging on and is slowly getting worse and worse. It is only a matter of time before she leaves this old world.
Hi Karen, just pure luck getting the first photo. Right place at the right time!
DeleteGlad you are enjoying lots of bird visits too.
I am not surprised no one has heard of these chips. They are from the Netherlands and mostly seem to be only available in "health food" stores.
Thank you for your prayers for my Mum Karen. That is so kind.
I will pray for your Mom too.
I hope you and Ken have a great weekend.
I love the colors of the female cardinal! Squirrels are fun little critters, even if they chatter at me when I'm out in the yard. Sending purrs for your momma.
ReplyDeleteThe female cardinal is gorgeous! The squirrels must be getting very accustomed to me being out in the yard. A few days ago one ran up to me. I guess he saw I was carrying his peanuts!
DeleteTake care.
You certainly have some colourful birds where you are and I like the black squirrel, just greys here. Such a worry when our parents get older. My Mum got to 82 and am hoping I get there too, although its coming at such a rate it feels as though it will be next week, lol
ReplyDeleteHope your Mum is comfortable, that's the best thing to wish for I think when we get old.
Hugs
Briony

Hi Briony, The only bird I don't see much of at this house is the Blue Jays for some reason. I do miss them.
DeleteThank you for your kind words about my Mum. You are right, I do wish she was comfortable.
Be well!
Sorry to hear your Mom is unwell. I hope the hospital can restore her health. Cute pic of the cardinal. They do seem an affectionate bird.
ReplyDeleteI'll certainly give those chips a try if I see them.
Mum needed up being a week in the Bomanville Hospital but it was what she needed.
DeleteIt is very sweet to watch the male feed the female little tidbits. They even like the dry cat food I leave out for the visiting kitties!
Have a nice Sunday!
You got some great shots this week, Robin! The one that really strikes my fancy is the bird and the maple tree. (But, you'll have to help me with identifying the bird.) I love the bronzy look of both the branches and the bird ~ just beautiful! Best wishes for your Mom and for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Chip Butter, the bird in the maple tree is a Grackle. They are quite handsome but rather like a bully in a schoolyard they push the other birds around. But when the sun hits their head and it turns an iridescent blue you ten to forget that!
DeleteThank you for your kind best wishes.
Have a good day!
Lovely ohotos of your backyard visitors. Hoping things improve for your mom.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thanks for your kind words. Hopefully Mum's health continues to improve.
DeleteStay warm today!
The colour of the male Gold finches is so intense. You take awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely say a prayer for your mom. Hope when you go to see her she's doing a bit better.
I doubt I'd find those chips around here but maybe other companies will realize that many of us are looking for crunchy snacks that are reasonably 'healthy'. Sometimes nothing but crunchy will do, and I don't mean celery.
You crack me up Granny Marigold! No, celery wouldn't do for me either if I want a crunchy snack!
DeleteThe goldfinches are gorgeous this time of year. Sometimes you will just see a streak of yellow across the yard as they whiz by.
Thank you for the prayer for Mum. I appreciate it.
Take care.
Spring definitely has sprung.🌼🌞Great to see all these happy looking critters, doing their thing.🐥
ReplyDeleteI hope your mom is feeling better soon.😊
Hi Geraldine, it is so wonderful to go outside in the morning and hear all the birds singing and smell all the lovely Spring smells.
DeleteHopefully Mum continues to improve. Thanks for your kind words.
Have a nice Sunday!
Prayers being said ----------and a few for you. It's hard watching parents struggle just as much as they had trouble watching US struggle.
ReplyDeleteHope your mom is doing better soon.
Hi Dee, thank you for your prayers. It means so much to me.
DeleteHave a good day!
Every photo is wonderful but that surprise of the squirrels is brilliant. So sorry for what you're going through with your mother. Keeping a good thought for her and all of you!
ReplyDeleteHi Mitchell, I really liked the squirrel photo too.
DeleteThank you for your kind thoughts. It is so appreciated.
Take care.
The cardinals are so sweet. You are right about the female being overlooked. She is very beautiful. Bet those chips are good. I am a big snacker! If I could stop snacking between meals, I could lose 10 pounds.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say too that I hope your mom get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Henny, the female birds are often thought of drab compared to the males but they too have their beauty.
DeleteThe chips are delicious! I am not a big chip eater but put chocolate in front of me and watch out! There is no way I can go from our 6:00am breakfast until 12 noon without a snack. I do have yogurt and fruit in the mid-morning but in the mid afternoon I feel like a treat!
Mum is slowly improving, thanks for your concern.
Have a good day!
The chips look yummy!
ReplyDeletePrayers for your mama, Robin.
Hi Pom Pom, the chips are delicious! Now I want some!
DeleteThank you for your prayers. You are all so kind.
Be well!
Ive been trying so hard to grab a photo of them feeding one another. It's been so tough! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn, it's very hard to get a photo of the male cardinal feeding the female. I manage 1 or 2 a year. It happens so quickly you have to be right there.
DeleteHave a good Monday.
What beautiful pictures! I love a couple of the ones of the squirrels! Wish I had a bird feeder. I am waiting to see if any birds wander into my year before I purchase one here. We have moved in a courtyard community and the houses are pretty close together. I loved to see the cardinal on the bird feeder in the snow when we lived in our house in Michigan. Nice that you can enjoy your nature around you! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, birds coming to my feeders was no problem here! It might take awhile but I imagine you eventually should have birds.
DeleteWe are very blessed to live in a small, rural town. I live that I can walk downtown in 5 minutes and walk out to the countryside in 10.
Have a good day!
Beautiful photos, as always! I have read about the cardinals feeding each other during mating season. Seems I read the male feeds the female, but it looks like she is feeding him? I love seeing all the pretty birds and cats here. Happy Thursday!

Lynn
Hi Lynn, no the female is just reaching for the seed. The males offer the female any little tidbits they find.
DeleteHave a good day!
You have such nice photos of the wildlife =)
ReplyDeleteThe crackers look yummy. I've never seen them but I'll be on the look out!
Hi Maggie, thanks for your kind words.
DeleteAccording to the "chip" website "Bulk Barn" carries them if you do not have an"Almost Perfect" store where you live.
Take care!
