"All Along The Water"
That's where we were on Sunday! A lovely day spent with Kim visiting and museuming.
Pardon the order of my photos. I don't know what is wrong with blogger. I had the photos all in order and this is how they downloaded them.
Chuck and I were standing on the shore of Lake Ontario taking photos and Kim said "Turn around, I will take your photo" and this was the result.
Saturday Chuck and I headed out to nearby Colborne for their "Canada 150" celebrations. It was darn cold and windy! A petting zoo was set up at the arena. You know I would be there!
Over Lake Ontario.
Mr Bee busy in the flower.
Lots of hay cutting going on this past week.
Back to the petting zoo. I don't know why the one duck has what looks like a toupee on his head!
So sweet and so tiny.
So sweet and so tiny also!
Ditto!
Back to visiting Kim. We toured Murney Tower located on the shores of Lake Ontario. Built in 1846 of limestone to complement the fortifications of nearby Fort Henry, it is surrounded by a dry ditch and only accessible by a drawbridge. It has operated as a museum since 1925.
It contains three floors, the lowest level being storage and having infantry loopholes, the second level are barracks and the third level is the artillery platform. A large cannon was up there.
Being surrounded by a dry ditch the soldiers would shoot out the loopholes and if the bullet didn't hit it's intended target then often the ricochet would.
This large stove was on the second level. Up to 25 men would be housed here. Eventually it became housing for an officer and his large family. It would certainly be an interesting place to live!
It was a gorgeous day so after we visited the museum we went for a walk. Many people out and about enjoying the day.
Mid afternoon we headed home. Just before we left a quick rainstorm blew in.
By the time we got out on the highway it had stopped raining but the clouds were ominous looking.
Apparently a few small tornados were spotted.
Looking back towards Kingston.
It was a great long weekend and we are already looking forward to the next one!
Have a good day!
Robin

You got great shots, Robin! I want a pony (again). That white rabbit is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour explanation of Murney Tower is good -- I was too lazy, just put a link in. LOL. And yeah, that's a nice pic of you both, looks even better cropped for a close up.
It was a fun day, thank you both for everything!
BTW, I do sometimes find that Blogger puts the pics out of order, so I will delete them from my post and start over, sometimes just clicking on a couple at a time, in the order I want them. It's just Blogger being finicky!
Hi Kim, there were a couple ponies along with Primrose from the Donkey Sanctuary. There was also another little rabbit black and white but it was so cool he was buried down in the straw!
DeleteThe photo you took of us turned out well. So nice to have a recent GOOD photo of the two of us. Mum has requested a copy.
I will try the various ideas about how to get my photos in order. So have no idea what I am doing!
Take care.
Looks like a fun outing! For some reason, I feel the clouds have been incredibly photogenic this year; is that weird? Hard to get good photos, however, due to power lines and light poles. As for Blogger pics, once I've loaded them, I click them in the order that I want them to appear, if that helps you.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, it was a wonderful outing! Always have fun with Kim.
DeleteThe clouds have been incredible this year. Or maybe we all are just noticing them more? Yes, power lines and poles are a pain in the butt.
I will try your suggestion about pics, thanks!
Be well!
guys....looks like an AWESOME week end and thanx again for sharing the photos; and blogger
ReplyDeletehas a mind of it's own, on the text in a post too...been there lots of times ! ☺☺♥♥
Hi Laura, it was a great weekend. We have so much in common with Kim anything she suggests is always a good time.
DeleteBeing a rather newbie to blogging I still am learning all about it. I thought maybe it was something I was doing!
Have a good day.
You are the second one, whom I have seen, who had trouble with the order of how their photos, came out placed, in a post.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do a post, I put in a photo, then write under it. And on and on and on....
Or, I write my post, leaving space between paragraphs, etc. Then go back and place my photos, where I want them.
Never had any trouble.
Always interesting.... The unknown perils of blogging. :-)

Hi Luna, I will try your trick of loading one photo at a time and then doing the text.
DeleteIt is interesting this world of blogging!
Have a great weekend!
Great pic of the two of you! I totally love the storm shots...love to see photos of storms and love to be there for them! Such cute animals..oh, and would love to tour that place.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I was thinking of you as I took the storm shots. It was lovely being at the Lake as the storm rolled in. Not fun seeing the people still swimming as it was thundering and lightening!
DeleteThe animals were adorable but I felt bad for them being out in the cool winds.
Wishing you and Roger a good weekend!
Great photos. Nice pic of the two of you. Looks like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, glad you enjoyed the photos! I am happy to have a decent photo of the two of us. Kim has taken the last two that I have liked of us.
DeleteWe did have a good time. If it involves history we are there!
Have a good day!
You take the most interesting day trips!!
ReplyDeleteNice picture of the two of you with the lake in the background.
And that adorable bunny? I want it. On second thought though maybe I'd be disappointed because Cinnamon is so friendly and what if I got one that wasn't so loving?
Hi Granny Marigold, I do love our day trips. Growing up my parents were expert at them. We started out at the crack of dawn (or before!) and usually would be home by supper. A lunch hamper and a thermos of laced coffee (for my Mum!) would be packed and a few books to read along the way.
DeleteThe bunny was adorable. His companion was burrowed down in the straw trying to keep warm! Nice to hear Cinnamon is so loving. Lucky you!
Have a good weekend!
Great photo tour! I especially love that shot on the tower stairs! You live a wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteHi Mitchell, glad you enjoyed the photos. The tower stairs were a little tricky. I couldn't imagine running up and down them in military boots. Interesting to think that people have been using the stairs for 170 years.
DeleteWe try to live our life remembering it can very quickly be taken away from you. Chuck's Mom died at 55 after having cancer for 6 years. My Dad lived the last 9 years of his life with Parkinson's. So much we would like to see and do and we can't say "Oh someday we will do that" One of Chuck"s frequent comments is "Where are you taking me now?"
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello, I love petting zoo. The critters are so cute. Lovely captures of you and the lake. The stormy skies are a great capture. Great series of photos. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, The petting zoo was sweet, I just wish the weather had been better for the poor animals!
DeleteI do love taking photos of stormy skies. I took probably 20 of them!
Glad you enjoyed the photos!
Have a good Friday!
you have been busy. I love the shot of you and hubby and all the critters make me smile. I would like to see that old fort. have not seen one shaped like that. it is amazing
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, Glad you enjoyed the photos! The little critters make me smile too. They even had pony rides but I didn't think the little pony would appreciate ME on his back!
DeleteI guess there are three other towers in Kingston shaped just like this one. Maybe we will get to see them.
Wishing you and Bob a good weekend!
I love the toupee. Ha ha. So sweet. Lovely photos as always. xoxo Lynn
ReplyDeleteOoohhh And I love the picture of you!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, glad you enjoyed the photos. The duck with the toupee was sweet!
DeleteEnjoy your weekend!
pea ezz....welcome ta de familee miss kitty & smokey !! :) :) :) :) ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you tabbies! I will pass the news along to Miss Kitty and Smokey. ; )
DeleteYou had a great long weekend. Very nice photo of both of you.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Luckily the weather cooperated and it rained just before we got to Kingston and just as we were leaving. Funny how the weather can be so different one hour down the road. It was sunny apparently the whole day here in Brighton.
DeleteHave a good weekend!
A nice photo of you and your hubby =)
ReplyDeleteI love toupee duck!
...and the wee bunny.
What a lovely adventure.
Hi Maggie, thanks for your kind words about the photo of Chuck and I. It seems with us anyway the casual ones are best. If I stop and comb my hair and straighten up I usually end up with a weird look on my face or I am blinking.
DeleteIf was a great day. It is so wonderful to have a friend who enjoys so many of the same things as we do.
Have a nice weekend with Emily and Winston!
Lovely photo of the two of you!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Murney Tower gorgeous? I'd happily live there! xxx
Hi Vix, thanks for your kind words about the photo of Chuck and I. Kim seems to have great luck when she takes a photo of the two of us. They always seem to turn out good.
DeleteMurney Tower was very interesting. As you can see we were just in t-shirts. The two employees who were working there were in sweaters and long pants. It was rather chilly in there!
Have a good weekend!
I agree with the others, lovely photo of you and Chuck.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day trip.
My favorite picture is the field of rolled hay.
Hi Karen, thanks for your kind words. It is tough sometimes to get a decent photo of the two of us. One looks away or blinks or has a silly expression on their face..
DeleteIt was a wonderful day.
I actually had Chuck pull over so I could get out and take a few shots of the hay bales. I do like that photo too.
Take care.
Looks like a very fun day.😂
DeleteWish you could send along some of your rainy days in Ontario, we have had a very dry summer here in BC.
Have a wonderful week.😂🌞🐝
Hi Geraldine, It was a great day as always with Kim!
DeleteWe are getting rather dry here now too but no where as dry as you are in B.C.
Take care!
