"Walking In The Winter"
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Ours was quiet with a few visits to family and friends.
It has been a wacky month of Winter so far. Extremely cold and very mild and everything in between.
We pretty well have had constant snow too which I happy to have for the gardens.
Cortes paid a quick visit one mild day.
Smokey and Miss Kitty at suppertime last night. These two are constant . Smokey is getting braver and letting me pet him now. His fur is very soft and thick.
Miss Kitty is as beautiful as ever. When I was young I was allergic to all animals. This past six months or so my allergies have flared up. I can't / shouldn't touch the kitties but it is very hard not to!
More incredible skies!
This was so brief one night.
oh my!
Lots of rabbit poop under the feeders but no rabbit sighting until a week or so ago.
The birds are back at the feeders for the Winter.
We are incredibly blessed to have access to a number of wonderful parks in our little town. One is a five minute walk away.
Janice and I walked the trails last week and had a wonderful time.
We did both the Cedar Loop and the Hardwood Hill Trail. Finally they have marked the trails and trees so you know where you are going.
It was just so peaceful and quiet.
Busy pileated woodpeckers I assume.
It allowed me one brief blurry photo before shooting off to the top of the tree.
But this guy stayed around. His name is Otis and he is six months old. His Dad walks him in the park everyday. He was adorable!
Proctor House Museum in the fog on Friday. It was in the 50's that day but by nightfall it had gotten quite cold. We had a flash freeze. No fun driving or walking!
That pretty well has been my month. Chuck is taking some well deserved time off shortly which we are very much looking forward to. No getting up at 5:30 for awhile!
Hope you all are well.
Take care.
Robin
Hello, wonderful post and photos. I enjoyed the squirrels and the bird photos. Looks like a cold but pretty walk. Otis is a cute dog. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, glad you enjoyed the photos! After being away a month I found I had quite a few to choose from.
DeleteHope you have a great week too!
Hi Robin! How lovely to see a blog post, I've missed your wonderful pics. (Those sunsets!) And you've gone for a brand new look too, for your blog. A new year, new template. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably be most of the day in Proctor Park, especially by the water. Wouldn't want to leave!
Stay warm today and enjoy the sunshine. It's not dark at 5 PM anymore; yay!
Hi Kim, thanks for the kind words! I still come upstairs everyday at sunset to see what it looks like. Just wanted a plainer look for the blog, not so busy.
DeleteI hope to have many walks in the park once Chuck is off work. It is a great workout!
I definitely noticed yesterday it is staying lighter longer. I looked out at 5:00 and it still was light.
Talk soon!
Don't you just love squirrels? They're little ears, and floofy tails...
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, yes, I do love the squirrels! Our kitchen table is right beside the window where my feeders are so they do entertain us.
DeleteHave a good week!
I'm happy to see you back and doing well. I was wondering how you were faring.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your blog. Is your header picture one taken of your house?
Your sky pics are great. We had an awesome sunset a few days ago and I tried to capture it but my camera just didn't manage. Take care,
Hi Granny Marigold, Good to hear from you too! No, that isn't a photo of our house on the header. I would never be able to arrange things as nicely as that!
DeleteGlad you liked the sky pics. We are really blessed with having the perfect window to take them from. Too bad your photo didn't turn out.
You take care too!
Nice to see a post from you. Glad all is well. Wonderful pictures you chosen to share with us. Nice that you have the park to walk in.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, great to hear from you. Your house is coming along nicely!
DeleteOur park doesn't even begin to compare to the beautiful places you have to walk!
Have a good day!
Lovely photos, love those cheeky squirrels. More snow heading in tonight. The evenings are pulling out a few seconds at a time.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, we did end up getting a good bit of snow. I will be heading out shortly to shovel the driveway.
DeleteI am enjoying the longer afternoons too. Lovely it is still light at 5:00!
Take care.
Oh my gosh! How cute if Otis????
ReplyDeleteLovely photos .............that trail walk looks absolutely chilling!! LOL
Hi Dee, Otis was adorable! He covered Janice and I in kisses much to the embarrassment of his Dad. He is trying to train him not to jump up but he loves all the ladies so much his training goes out the window.
DeleteIt wasn't too cold on the trail and by the time we got to the top of the hill we had pulled off our hats and opened our coats. Can't wait to walk it again.
Be well!
Ah, so much beauty. But so cold!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mitchell, I can't remember such a long cold spell! We seem to be coming out of it now with rain in the forecast for the weekend. I do feel energized in the cold though. I am not a hot weather person!
DeleteTake care!
I've only seen one bunny so far this winter... I think Relic has scared them all off.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen many rabbits at this house either, way more at the other house. Just too many cats here!
DeleteTaske care.
Thank you for sharing your latest pictures and walking adventures, Robin. Excellent junco photo. The light has to be exactly right to capture their eyes among those dark feathers and you nailed it. Oh, and Happy New Year to you and Chuck. It's so nice to see daylight lengthening!
ReplyDeleteHi Florence, nice to hear from you. It is tough to get a decent junco photo. The face always seems to blur together.
DeleteHappy New Year to you too!
It is so wonderful to be making supper and it is still light out. Love it!
Be well!

Awesome photos, especially the squirrel close up. We are half way through winter, so now I can go out and play in it with a little more gusto.
ReplyDeleteHi Jono, thanks for the kind words. We seem to be through that hellish cold , for the season hopefully, so it does make it easier to spend time outside. I am NOT a hot weather person so am loving the not too cold days when I can play in the parks!
DeleteTake care.
Lovely photos =) Sometimes a walk is just the thing to help settle an anxious heart.
ReplyDeleteThe felines are lucky to have you looking out for their welfare. I'm sorry to hear your allergies are flaring up :(
Hope you are staying warm!
