Rainy Monday

Taken from our back deck

Finally, some rain! We are having a gentle rain right now which started last night. It seems to have turned everything even lusher and greener. My cousin Brenda on her Facebook page used the word verdant to describe her yard. What a great word!

I love how this elephant ear hosta catches the rain. I just planted this a week ago and it already has a number of new leaves. The rock behind it has a story. A new gas station was built a few weeks ago out on our main road. The soil here is tremendously rocky so of course there was a large number of rocks laying around the construction site. I spied this one and a number of others thinking they would look great in our gardens. I went into the gas station and asked if I could have some rocks. They looked at me as if I was nuts, said yes, take all you want. We came home with the trunk full(not much as we have a very tiny car) and placed them around the gardens. Chuck's back may never be the same!

It is supposed to be rainy and warm all week. I hope you have a good one!

  1. We're not getting much rain at the moment, need a really good, gentle soaking so desperately.

Will that hosta grow to gigantic proportions? I do love my hostas, and so do the boys. :-)

    Have a lovely day.

  2. The rain has stopped here now too. I hope we get some more!
I think the hosta will grow quite big. We had one at our other house where it did get very large. I love hosta's too. I notice your boys love to lay in them.

    1. Thanks Marg. I do love sitting on the deck looking out over the yards. All of our neighbours are great gardeners so there is always something to admire.
