The kitchen begins

Rob and John

At last! We started planning our new kitchen in February. We wanted to wait until the warmer weather so the windows could be open in case of any odours (wood, glues etc..) as Chuck has some breathing issues.  We had stripped out the whole kitchen by Sunday night so everything was bumped up a day. The flooring guys came in yesterday and started laying the plywood. The picture above is the tiling guys hard at work. This is the eating area of our kitchen with the actual kitchen area more so where I am standing. The door in the middle of the wall leads to our family room and the door on the right leads to the living room. The sliding doors on the left leads out to the deck. The tiling should be done by Friday afternoon. Fingers crossed!

The picture below was taken a couple of weeks ago. We seem to have a few pairs of mourning doves coming to our feeders. I fill all three feeders every day and they are empty by night time. I hope you all have a great day. Take care.

  1. It's always very exciting to see someone else's renos. Living through it, not so exciting. I'd like to pack up and leave for a week or two and come home to a completely renovated townhouse, top to bottom. Hey, Sam Pynn can do it with her crew in 1 - 3 days, so 800 square feet of finished living space (mine, not counting the unfinished basement) should be possible. :-)

    Good luck!!!

    1. Thanks Kim. Living through it is not fun. We have done smaller renovations a few times but nothing to this extent. We have worked with these tile guys a few times so that makes it easier. We've lived in this house 7 months and by the time the kitchen is done we will have renovated the entire main floor. We just have a few small things to do and we HOPE to be done for awhile.

    1. Yes Gill we are very exited. It will not be totally finished for probably 3 and 1/2 weeks. The granite counter has to wait until the cabinets are all in. The company comes from Toronto, measures it, and then we wait two weeks for it to be made.

  3. The work has begun. How exciting. Look forward to seeing the progress.
We have quite a few mourning doves at our feeders. I like them, they seem calm, peaceful and gentle.

    1. We can't wait for it to be done. I enjoy mourning doves too. Quiet gentle birds. They were my Dad's favourite too.

  4. Good news. The work has started. So maybe it won't be long now. Those pictures of the doves are great.

    1. Thanks! The young fellows are here now finishing the ceramic floors. The longest wait will be for the countertops.
