What happened to summer?

Oh my goodness, it is cool outside. The photo above was taken on June 1st, 1968. It looks much warmer in 1968 than it is today. I am on the far right. With the cooler weather I decided to have a baking day yesterday. The cookies below are just Chocolate Chip. I use half chocolate chips and half mini M&M's. I have made them so many times over the years I know the recipe by heart.
The cookies below are a new recipe I tried. When I was grocery shopping I noticed mini Reeses Pieces in the baking aisle so I thought I would try them. The recipe is basically Oatmeal Cookies with Reeses Pieces added. You get a little burst of peanut butter when you bite into them. The recipe called for 1 package of pieces but I only used half and it was more than enough.
A hot supper seemed like a good idea so I made a pizza. I have used my dough recipe since we were first married so I practically can make it with my eyes closed! I use a cast iron pizza pan as I find it crisps up the crust nicely.
I hope it is warmer wherever you may be. Take care of yourself and have a great day.

  1. Mmmm, cookies! And home made pizza with LOTS of mushrooms! Feel free to UPS me some food. LOL. Actually, I've been off chocolate, cookies and cake, etc., 22 days now. Not sugar-free, just sweets-free. Well, except for the Farm Boy jars of pumpkin "butter," which I'm eating by the spoonful, right out of the jar. LOL. And the occasional latté. I'm sure not losing any weight, but I feel better with less sugar in my system every day, as I was out of control.

BTW, you were 4 in the photo? About that, I think we're the same age. Is it your mom on the far left? Whoever it is reminds me of someone I've seen more recently, it'll come to me around 2AM. LOL.

    1. I love making cookies! Too much I think. I use lots of mushrooms when I cook. We are vegetarians so lots of veggies on my pizza's.I admire you for having the willpower to go sweet-free. I have a terrible sweet tooth!
Yes I was 4 in the photo. I was born in January 1964. That is my Mom on the far left. She would have been 34 years old then. Hope you are having a good day.

  2. Cookies look good. I know my recipe by heart too.
Your pizza looks so good, much better than mine from the other day. : )
We bake ours on a stone in the oven. That too keeps the crust crisp.
A bit on the cool side here too today.

    1. Thanks Natalie. I love old family photo's too. My Mom knows how sentimental I am and gave me lots of them when she moved.
