Rainy Day

Rainy, thundery day today so a good day for inside jobs. Chuck did some painting and I puttered around cleaning and reorganizing things in the kitchen.
Nothing stops the birds unless it is a very heavy rain.

I also did some baking. This is peach platz, which is basically a fruit covered coffee cake, Mennonite style.
I grew up eating this quite a bit. My Oma made it with all fruit starting with rhubarb in the spring, ending with apples in the fall. I doubt we ever had a gathering and this was not on the table.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

  3. Mmm, that peach platz looks yummy!

We had some rain yesterday, but it was the evening before (Thursday at supper time) that we had an absolute torrential downpour. We needed it though, everything's so dry.

Hideously hot and sticky this weekend and into early next week....stay cool and hydrated!

We had the same torrential rain you had on Thursday too. It is still rather dry here.
I do not like this hot, humid weather. Too hot to do anything outside. We did go out this morning though.
I hope you have a peaceful weekend Kim. Hug the boys for me!

  6. Platz? Do you by any chance have Mennonite blood flowing through your veins? If so, you and I have more than bird watching in common.

    3. Yes Kim this recipe is similar. I love Mennonite Girls Can Cook. I discovered them a few years ago and had made many recipes from their site.
