Keep Me In Your Heart.

Elizabeth and her daughter Jordan, June 2015.
If you regularly read my blog you will know my cousin Elizabeth died Sunday night after a 5 year battle with cancer. And battle she did! When she was diagnosed Elizabeth was told she had a year to live. Her daughter was only a year old. Elizabeth and her doctors mapped out a plan that hopefuuly would let her live longer than that.
She went through some pretty horrendous treatments but it seemed to be working. She eventually was able to go back to work and live a fairly normal life.
Four and a half years passed and things were going o.k. But this summer the cancer returned with a vengeance and there was nothing that could be done.
Elizabeth was 13 years younger than I so we didn't spend a lot of time together. I left our hometown 30 years ago so I didn't see her as often as before except at Christmas, weddings etc.... But she was always the same. A sweet, kind, loving girl.
I was reading a posting on Facebook from one of her friends that said "Jordan (Elizabeth's daughter) and I made a snowman today and Jordan said it was for you, Elizabeth"
I remember Elizabeth at my Dad's funeral. She was very pregnant with Jordan and was absolutely stunning. We chatted for a few minutes about the upcoming birth and how she wished her mother was here. Elizabeth's Mom had died a few years previously. I like to think Elizabeth's Mom was waiting for her with open arms.

Take care.
Robin

  1. This is a heartbreaking post for you and for all of Elizabeth's family. Everyone walks the path of grief in their own way and time, and I wish you all peace in your hearts at the end of that path.

I, too, would like to think her mom was waiting for her and that they're both watching over Jordan now.

    Hugs.

    1. Kim, it was a post I hoped never to write. She seemed to be gone so quickly.
It is a comfort to think she is with her Mom.
      Have a great trip!
      Take care.

  4. Oh Robin, how sad. She is so pretty and her daughter looks so much like her. Gosh, makes me ashamed for ever complaining. I'm so sorry.

    1. Jordan is the spitting image of Elizabeth at that age. We will always see Elizabeth when we look at her daughter.

  5. How very heartbreaking. Elizabeth tried her best and hung on longer than the doctors thought but she left way too soon for little Jordan. Like Henny Penny put it... makes me ashamed too, for ever complaining.

    1. It sure puts things into perspective doesn't it? Our lives seem so simple and good in comparison.

  6. So sorry. Such a sad blog post but it made me think of the people who have left my life and my late mother always said you never really die if you are remembered. I think you've done that for Elizabeth.

  7. So sad. Elizabeth was so young. Seems like she loved life though and it was a good one though not nearly long enough. She will live in all the hearts of those who know and love her.
