Into The Lens.

As I was glancing at our local paper yesterday morning I stopped when I came upon the "Card of Thanks" section. There was a photo of a man I knew. His name was Scott and he worked at a grocery store I have shopped at for 20+ years. He had passed away in late November  and the family were thanking everyone for attending his celebration of life. Somehow I had missed his obituary notice. I by no means knew him very well but he always said hello and we would chat for a minute or two each time we saw each other in the grocery store. Scott was the same age as me. So sad.
On a lighter note (well, maybe) a trip to "Service Ontario" was necessary yesterday morning. Anyone that lives here in Ontario will know what a thrill that is! Anyway, my health card and driver's licence are expiring shortly  so off we went. I was going to go by myself but Chuck offered to come along and keep me company as the wait in the line can be rather long.
Mistake!  We finally got up to the wicket and I handed over all the paperwork. I read everything before we left and it specifically said "No photo required" so I didn't bring in a comb to fix my hair before taking the photo. Oh course a photo was required!
AAARRRRGGGG! You also can not wear your glasses for the photo. Anything beyond four feet in front of me is a blur. Two have to be taken so I am standing there waiting for her to take the photo. Off to the side Chuck is making funny faces at me making me laugh. She snapped the two pretty quickly. I can only imagine what they look like. I will post the photos when I receive them.
Work continues on the garage at a great pace. The walls are just about done being taped and mudded. I ply Dan with homemade cookies which he seems to enjoy!
I thought I would share another vintage photo with you. This was taken in my parent's living room in the mid eighties. I think those headphones are back in style again. The kitty is our first cat Linus. He came everywhere with us not minding travelling in the car at all. It was a three hour drive from our house in Trenton to my parent's. We usually came for a visit once a month.

Hope you are having a good weekend.
Take care.
Robin

    1. I am so glad you enjoy my photos. I have a decent camera with a 15 zoom lens. Then when I download the photos I crop them quite a bit. You would be shocked how many photos I take and how many actually turn out!

  3. You're braver than I, to post govt ID pics. LOL. I'll be due for renewal of both drivers license and health card come late winter/early spring.

I like the female cardinal (?) pic the best today, and the squirrel close up. The cardinal one looks very seasonal, actually. :-)

    Take care!

    1. We will see how bad the photos are!
Yes that is a female Cardinal. I haven't seen her for a few days now. Mostly just mourning doves at the feeders the last few days.
      Talk soon!

    1. Hi Karen, it does look like he is frowning. He had just scoffed down a couple peanuts and was looking for more.
      Take care!

  5. Sorry to hear about the man from the grocery store. It must have been a shock to find that he'd died and at such a young age!
That first photo is amazing! I really like it. Is that a Junco in the next pic? If so, your Juncos look quite different from ours.

    1. Hi G.M. It was a shock to learn Scott had passed away. He was usually always in the store when I went in. Way too young to die.
Thanks for your kind words about my photos. Yes that is a junco. I believe it is a female.
