Trapped Under Ice.

Our first real blast of winter happened overnight Monday into Tuesday. We received a bit of snow but the freezing rain on top of it was the troublemaker. Very hazardous travel and walking. We knew the storm was coming so I stocked up on groceries Monday morning.
The juncoes were the first to arrive at the feeders before it was even light out. For such tiny little birds they can really dig out the snow!
I  dug out paths to the feeders and filled them up and laid down some peanuts. I only briefly saw a squirrel. I guess they were eating from their stash instead of braving the freezing rain.
I noticed this mourning doves tail was crusted with ice and snow. I guess it's tail sticking was out in the storm!
Today would have been my Dad's 83rd Birthday. If you have read my blog for awhile you know my Dad and I were very close. I miss him everyday. The photo above was taken in Portugal sometime in the 1990's. My Mum remembers taking this photo and she recalls how pleased my Dad was that the pigeon ate out of his hand.
This also was taken in the 1990's. My Mum and Dad were working in one of the front flowers gardens. My Dad loved roses, they were planted all around the yard. The one is the background was a beautiful pinkie red one.
No reason at all for this photo. I just thought it was cute. This is Sonya one of the siamese cats we had growing up. She was the sweetest cat, always happy and purring.

Enjoy your day!
Robin.

  1. Aw, Robin, lots of hugs and purrs to you today. Someone around the CB once wrote that we never "get over the loss, we just become accustomed to the absence." Paraphrasing. I've always remembered that, because it doesn't matter whether the loss was human or non-human.

I'm sure all those birds are thrilled to have you putting out the buffet every day! Obviously you got your affinity for birds from your dad. :-)

That's a cute shot of Sonya. I bet the step was warm, she looked like she was very content to soak up the sun there.

Take care, be extra kind to your Self today.

    1. Thanks Kim, I so appreciate it. That is exactly how I feel, I am getting accustomed to his absence.
Sonya was such a sweetie, always up for a cuddle, always seemed to know when you needed a cuddle.
      Take care Kim.
