Monday, Monday. Update!! My Mum is now home!

We had a very quiet weekend with some small jobs around the house getting done. I looked outside yesterday morning and saw this squirrel at one of the feeders. It took me a few seconds to realize he doesn''t have any ears! From what I could see he is perfectly fine otherwise, just no outer ears.
Finally the sun came out this morning and it is very mild. We hardly have any snow left which makes for great walking. I checked my gardens and noticed many of the perennials are continuing to poke up through the soil. Hopefully we get some snow soon to cover them up again.
We continue to de-clutter and get rid of a few things. My Mum some years ago passed along a number of antique oil lamps to us. We decided to pare down to just the lamps we really loved. Half went to our local Bibles For Missions Thrift Store and half we took to my favourite antique store to see if the owner would like them. We ended up trading two for this quilt. I originally had the "Sunbonnet Girls" quilt on this bed but since we painted and changed the colour it didn't match anymore. I don't know if this quilt pattern has a name or not. I think it matches much better then the other one.
Here is a photo from a few days ago taken during the wind and snow storm we had. I am always so surprised the birds don't blow off the branches!
My Mum is still in the hospital. She is having a very hard time breathing so now no date has been given when she will be released. Again thank you for all your good wishes.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
Take care.
Robin

  1. You do get interesting squirrels! No outer ears -- gees, poor thing. Wonder if that causes any hearing or other issues.

The quilt looks great on the spare bed -- good trade, Robin. :-)

Still thinking of your mum and sending healing energy. Hugs.

  3. No ears doesn't seem to bother the squirrel. Never saw that before. Wonder what happened.
Warm here too and raining so most of our snow is gone.
Sorry to hear you mum still not out of the hospital. She is still on my prayer list.

    1. I looked online and saw a few mentions of squirrels without ears. A birth defect I guess!
Glad you are finally able to walk outside.
Thanks again for saying a prayer for my Mum. I appreciate it Karen.

  6. The snow is disappearing and your mom is getting out of the hospital... things are looking up.
I have a thing about quilts... they're just so pretty. That one you traded for lamps looks very nice and suits the room.
We must have had a squirrel hoarding his nuts in the BBQ because when we went to use it on the weekend there they were. We can't see how he got into it but he must have somehow.

I LOVE old quilts! When anyone got married on my Dad's side of the family my Oma made them a quilt as a wedding present.
      Crazy squirrels!
