She's So Cold.

That certainly describes me these last couple of days! I took this photo yesterday morning but the temperature is the same this morning. With the windchill it is ridiculous.
We had a dusting of snow Friday. This is one of the flowers from my neighbours window box. In one of the storms it blew over into our yard so I put it up on the deck railing in view from our kitchen window. As I stand and do dishes I can see it. It reminds me that flowers are only a few months away. It must of froze onto the railing because it has been there for a week or so.
The sparkling snow Friday night.
Saturday morning and the birds were busy at the feeders.
When I do the dishes it always takes me longer than it should. Our feeders are right outside the kitchen window so I am constantly stopping and watching the birds.
This downy woodpecker spent quite a long time eating suet yesterday after lunch. The sun was shining but it hardly helped the temperature.
Ms. Tippy was also around for an hour or so. I put out treats for everyone. Her fur is looking very glossy!
The cardinals are everyday visitors. The female is always the first to come to the feeders. The male is much more cautious.
I love the contrasting colours of her feathers.
This log in the neighbours yard is a favourite gathering place later in the afternoons. The sun hits it just right. It wasn't until I downloaded theses photos that I noticed the starling in the upper right background. We don't get a lot of starlings for some reason.

The sun is shining brightly as I type this at 8:00 a.m. We may venture out today but there still is an "Extreme Cold Alert" in place here. But in a few days we are supposed to get some rain. What a crazy winter!

What are your plans for today? Let me know in a comment.

Take care and have a wonderful Sunday! Happy Valentines Day!
Robin

  1. The birds are all fluffed up, trying to stay warm in the cold temperatures. They look so plump and adorable, but the poor things are probably so cold!

    1. The bird feeders were so busy all day! I can't imagine how they survive. Happily this cold is supposed to end tomorrow.

  2. Happy Valentine's Day to you too! You sure are having crazy weather
( again... or is it... still). Here it's 7 degrees and non-stop rain for the past day or so.
Those Cardinals are just so pretty. Keep enjoying them because we don't have them in BC ( maybe you could import some?)

    1. This has been the craziest winter we have ever had here. We have barely any snow but my sister who lives two hours away has had 10 inches in the last coupe days.
I wonder why cardinals are not in BC? Lots of other birds to enjoy I am sure!
      Have a nice day!

  3. I like your downy woodpecker the best! :-)

I didn't know BC doesn't have cardinals. I, too, wonder why not. I would think the climate would be easier for just about any critter to thrive in!

I've been out both days...crazy cold. I'm glad we don't get many days like this, I definitely couldn't hack it.

    Take care!

    1. The woodpecker photo is my favourite too. He stayed still so I could take a few photos.
It is a crazy cold out. It shocked me when I went out yesterday morning.
I am really tired of this winter!
      See ya!

  4. Yes, it is very cold but this morning the air and snow sparkled. It was beautiful. It was like glitter falling to earth.
It's Sunday and we always spend it at church. : )

  6. My goodness, it does look so cold where you are! I live in a place where it never snows, so it's a real novelty to me.
