"Sky Of July"

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We mostly stayed around the house and just ventured out a few times. After always having flower arrangements around the house while we had the house up for sale I decided to continue with the idea until we move. The vase I use here in the dining room is an old one of my Grandmothers. The plate below it was given to her by the Women's Institute back in the 1950's. Yes, I hang onto things! Despite the total lack of rain the hosta's are fabulous this year.
Busy Papa Cardinal feeding a young one.
So hot on Saturday the Mourning Doves just sat themselves in one of the birdbaths to cool off.
Wonderful clouds over the last few days. Each day storms were predicted but not too much materialized.
We did have one good bout of rain Friday around lunch. Of course I was out doing errands and no I did not have an umbrella!
This is the cornfield at the end of our street early Saturday morning.
Sunday we went out for a little drive. The skies were beautiful.
I took this from my computer room window.
Can't have a post without a squirrel photo.
Much cooler on Sunday so I caught up on my baking. I have had a bag of apples I knew were not the best for eating sitting in the fridge so popped them into a pie. Yummy!

Five weeks today we get the keys to our new home. We are having one of our two allowed walk-thrus on our new home this week. Chuck wants to measure a few things and I want to take a closer look at the gardens. I am itching to get at them!

Take care and have a wonderful week.
Robin

  1. Hi Robin! I especially love the dad cardinal feeding his teenager. Bottomless pits, those teens are. LOL.

I really like your arrangement with the hosta leaves and daisies, never would have thought to do that. One of my hostas is crisping up, I really ought not to have put them in along the far side of the fence, but whatever.

We had a wee bit of rain, not the good soaking over a few days that we desperately need, but it's been nice to have a couple of days of cooler weather -- better for sleeping.

Have a great day! Oh, and isn't it Friday, your walk-through the new house?

    1. Thanks Kim! I love all the different shades of green in hosta's, although it is rather hard to see in the photo.
I heard we won't be receiving much rain this week. What the heck is going on???
We have to finalize the date and time for the walk-thru. Friday or Saturday anyway.
      See you soon!

  2. I had never thought of using Hosta leaves for an arrangement. It's really pretty. Your pictures are always beautiful! Wish I could bake a pie that pretty too!

    1. I started using hosta's in flower arrangements a few years ago and just love them. I don't know if my pies qualify as pretty but you are kind to say so Henny!

I'm always surprised how hot it can get in Canada. I always think of it as a cool place. : )

    1. Thanks Karen. I do think of my Grandmother every time I use that vase.
We are pretty warm from May to October here. I imagine our winters are more severe than yours though.

  6. That apple pie looks so good; I'll bet there's not much left!!
I didn't know you were allowed only two opportunities to "walk-thru" as a buyer. Guess it makes sense.
Are you having terrible hot weather this week? Thought I saw something to that effect on TV. Hope not, if for no other reason than your Hostas.

    1. I have to use my willpower and not eat the pie very quickly. Apple is my favourite.
Here in Ontario anyway when you make an offer on a home you stipulate how many walk-thrus you desire.
We are having terribly hot weather this week. We have a heat warning in effect until Friday. Oh, joy!
