"Freeze Frame"

We received another round of freezing rain a few days ago. It seems to be a weekly event this winter. It does make for lovely photos though!
I popped outside to fill the feeders and took along the camera. The temperature was just starting to go above freezing so things were melting.
Everything was ice covered.
The male Cardinal came by for a quick visit while I was sprinkling out some peanuts.
Just as the sun was going down a couple days ago Miss Kitty was eating her supper. Punkin ran over to  join in. Terrible photo as it is through the screen door as it was getting dark. Miss Kitty will fight with everyone but Punkin. She seems to respect that Punkin is the King Cat in the neighbourhood. I have never witnessed Punkin fighting with anyone but all the cats shy away from him except Miss Kitty.
Ohhh, it has been more than two months since I have driven my car. I do miss it! The insurance doesn't go back on until April 15 when all the snow should be over. Meanwhile it waits!
Punkin posed nicely for me yesterday. We are pretty sure he is a stray. He is coming around more and loves to be petted on the head. He has the sweetest meow for such a big cat.
Blurry photo but you can see how big he is.
The Robin's are around everyday too.
Nice to see splashes of colour at this dreary time of year.
This skinny little black squirrel sat on the deck and munched pumpkin seeds and cranberries yesterday. Hard to tell but it is quite small. Poor thing, didn't know enough to fatten up beforehand.

We continue to not have any snow and it has been quite mild the last few days.

Enjoy your weekend!
Robin

  1. Your first picture is amazing! Punkin is a lovely looking boy isn't he, hope little black squirrel manages to fatten up soon xx

    1. Hi Cheryl, pure luck taking the first photo. I just had my little point and shot. I must have actually had it on the right setting for once!
Punkin is lovely. I feel so bad about the number of stray cats in this neighbourhood. I can't take them in but I will always make sure they can get a meal here.

  2. The squirrel must be new to the neighbourhood, as you've certainly been leaving great food for the critters since you moved in. :-D

Punkin's such a stunning cat, too bad he's a stray (and probably unneutered at that). The mentality of humans who don't spay/neuter frustrates and angers me no end.

The only robins I see are in your pics -- lol. I'm sure if I were to go to the west end and walk along Old Front Road, I'd see a few, though.

Spring will be here before we know it. Really!

    1. Hi Kim, yes the squirrel must be a newcomer! I was shocked at how skinny he was.
Punkin is handsome and as you say probably unneutered. I just don't understand people either that they can just dump an animal.
We seem to have quite a few Robin's hanging around this year. They are chirping away now but I don't imagine they will be when we get colder.

  3. Isn't nature just wonderful, I only wish more people would take notice of it then maybe the world would be an even more beautiful place. The first picture is so lovely and not a human hand has touched it.
I love little Punkin and its so sad that he's a stray, good job he knows where to get a nice meal. We have a black and white stray call each night, he seems to know the time to come and waits patiently, last night Tom managed to get a little closer to him, I would love to take him in, we shall see.

    1. I agree Briony, nature is wonderful. Always something to admire and marvel at.
Stray cats are a problem world wide! That's wonderful you are taking care of some too. It is surprising how cats respond to a bit of love.
      Take care.

    1. Hi G.M, we have been Spring like for a few days now. A nice break, even though the sun is not making too many appearances!
      Have a nice weekend!

  5. Ice is not good. I'd much rather have snow. More rain for us today.
That car sure looks nice. Haven't driven mine for a while. I keep the insurance going though because we do get some nice days when I do drive it.

    1. I would much rather have snow too Karen. Ice makes it so treacherous to walk and drive.
Your car is beautiful! We use so much salt here. I don't want salt on the car and then it starts rusting! It is 10 years old now so I want it around for awhile longer.
      Have a good weekend.

  7. Glad I didn't miss this post. Your pictures are always so pretty. That first frozen picture looks like it could be eaten...a frozen cherry and banana. :) I LOVE you red car! I have always loved driving something sporty...but I suppose those days are over. I drive my mother's old Toyoto Corolla now. Sigh! :)

    1. Hi Henny, I was really lucky with the first photo. The ice was just starting to melt and I quickly went outside with my camera.
Thanks, I love my car too!😍 Usually Chuck and I have one sensible car for everyday driving and then one play car. Since I don't work outside our home I get the play car!
Toyota Corolla's are very good cars. You can't seem to kill them.
      Have a nice weekend!

  8. Hi Robin,
I so enjoyed the photos, especially the kitties. Good for you for taking care of Punkin. He is a beauty.

    1. Hi Sandra, glad you enjoy my photos, I sure love taking them!
You do spy a Mustang! It is a 2007 GT. I love it! But it is just a summer driver. It never has been driven in the winter as we use so much salt on the roads up here. The cars rust very quickly here.
      Have a good week!

  9. Beautiful frozen photos! Especially the first one! Amazing!!!!!

Oh my, you must miss driving your hot little red car!!! Soooo cooool! I love it!

But I can understand not driving it, in snow.

My husband has an old 1950 Chevy Truck. And that goes under cover, for winter, also. :-)

    Gentle hugs,

I do miss driving my car, just 2 1/2 more months until it is back on the road.
1950's Chevy trucks are great. What a classic!
      Take care!

    1. At our other home I had a basement window right at eye level to the ground right by my bird feeders. I was able to get many wonderful photos over the time we lived there. The only thing I miss about that house!
