"Sunshine On My Shoulders"

This week we finally saw the return of the sun! 🌞 I know this squirrel doesn't look too happy about it but I am sure he appreciates it.
Here is a shot of the skinny squirrel. I do see him at the feeder and since we haven't had much snow he is able to eat easily.
A bit of snow blew around the other day.
Windy yesterday making this squirrel's tail blow around him.
Two nights in a row we had such clear skies at night I went outside and took photos. It was darn cold though!
Luna at  Moon Spinners mentioned in a recent post about shadow photos. I noticed this shadow of one of our oil lamps yesterday.
We had to pop into town yesterday for a bank appointment. I remembered my camera and snapped this photo as we were heading out of our little town. The building to the left is the grocery store I usually do my shopping at . Lake Ontario is just visible in the background.
Corn fields in the foreground with the clouds hanging over the lake.
Lovely old house still decorated for Christmas.
Beautiful red sky a couple mornings ago.
One afternoon it clouded up quite quickly but the sun peeked through occasionally.
NOT MY PHOTO! Chuck and I were walking yesterday afternoon and we passed by a crabapple tree full of Robins. A white one caught my eye It was a leucistic (part albino) Robin. Of course I left my camera at home! It posed very nicely for 30 seconds or so. I could have taken a number of photos……. So instead we just stood and watched him. It was an interesting sight to see.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Robin

  1. I love that first squirrel pic, good close up! S/he is VERY well fed. LOL. (Plus, let's face it, both grey and red squirrels are cuter than the black ones.)

Funky shadow from the lamp! Neat!

Oh, the field shots look cold. Brrrr. The wind was quite bitter here too, yesterday when going home.

A part albino robin? Never knew such a bird existed, never seen one. Very pretty, actually.

Enjoy today's sunshine. Not sure what our temp is here, but it's lovely to look out the office window and see blue sky, and the sun on the building next to us.

Hey, we're one day closer to Spring! :-)

    1. The squirrel in the first photo was waiting on the deck for me to toss him some peanuts. Hence the rather crabby look!
It wasn't too bad first thing yesterday morning but then the wind really picked up. We arrived way too early for our bank appointment so we walked around downtown a bit. Should have brought my hat!
I have probably seen a handful of albino Robin's over the years but NEVER when I have my camera along.
It is a little chilly here today but the sun is wonderful.
      Have a good day!

  2. Oh wow! I didn't know there were albino robins...so cool!

We've got the sun finally too - but it's cold!!! I've got to wrap myself up warm in a bit to go for a walk to the drug store!

    1. I saw my first albino Robin about Ten years ago. Shocked me the first time I saw one!
I walked downtown a little earlier and I did not linger long! Chuck and I will go out for our walk later so I will dress warmer than.
      Have a nice weekend!

  3. So happy I have "turned you on," to noticing shadow photo ops!!!! And your oil lamp, makes a marvelous one!

All the different ways, the sun light is caught and reflected... :-) And the shadow is shown...

  4. Wow, seeing the title to your post INSTANTLY transported me back to when I had every John Denver album! Wow!

    1. I was trying to someone connect sunshine with the squirrel in coming up with a title. I saw the sun on his chubby little shoulders and knew what title I would use. I was a John Denver fan too and still have a few of his albums. He died way too soon.
      Take care!

  5. I love the black squirrel, with the blown snow, on his coat. Makes such a pretty photo.

And you got beautiful moon shots! I notice the Moon and Venus, in the clear skies, but I can't get a shot, after full dark. Must look at my Moon Button, on my sidebar. It tells when the moon rises, is highest, and sets, on my area. Need to see it, before full dark! And try for a photo :-)

Did you see Venus? I think lower, and to the right of the Moon....

Never have seen an albino robin!!! Never even heard of them. Wow!

    1. I am a big softie when it comes to squirrels. And they seem to know it!
I am constantly looking at the sky. When we go for our walks I am surprised I haven't crashed into more things!
Chuck has always been interested in space so it has rubbed off on me. I have a calendar with the moon phases on it and our weather station daily tells us when it rises and sets so I do keep track. Yes I do notice Venus. It is so beautiful and bright.
      Have a good day!

  6. Robin, those are lovely photos! Of course I would have not had my camera either if I saw a white robin like that! Isn't that just the way it goes! I love the photo of the squirrel with the snow flying around. So sweet. Sigh. I love nature.

    1. Hi Lynn, thanks for your kind words! I just forget to bring my camera and of course I find something wonderful to take a photo of.
I do love nature too. My parent's especially my Dad taught me such an appreciation for it. I was lucky to have access to so much of it growing up at my grandparents farm and even in our own neighbourhood.
      Enjoy your weekend!

  7. What a delightful post this afternoon! I love the shadow of your oil lamp. Thanks to Luna, I will be looking for shadow shots, too! Never heard of an albino Robin. Thanks for sharing. The squirrel photos are fun and it's nice to see the area around your home. I wish you a lovely afternoon!

    1. Thanks Mildred! Luba's posts are always so interesting and thoughtful. It seems like many people have never heard of albino Robins. They are very unusual looking.
The little town we live in is surrounded by farms so many opportunities for great photos.
Enjoy the rest of the day!

  8. I was thinking what really cute squirrels you have, then saw the albino Robin. That is the most amazing thing. I never heard of such! Your shadow photo with the oil lamp is beautiful. I've been enjoying Luna's blog too.

    1. Hi Henny, it is funny how we come across each other on different peoples blogs. Luna's blog is an interesting read.
You know me and squirrels, I can't resist them!
You know I will bring my camera everyday for the next month and I won't see that Robin again. Oh well, it was still so lovely to see it!
      Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. I love the squirrels there, and especially the photo with the swirl of snow. Beautiful skies too. Ah, but that leucistic Robin, that's quite a find. I've seen other leucistic birds over the years, but never a Robin. Enjoy the sunshine there!

    1. Hi Robin, I like the photo of the squirrel in the snow too although I doubt the squirrel was too happy!
I've seen a leucistic Blue Jay once and a number of times a Robin. So interesting!
The sun was short lived today. It has clouded up now but it has been a bright week overall.
      Take care!

  10. I don't know where to begin...love the squirrel shots...and totally love your shadow shot. I seldom think of shadows. Love the shots with the big skies...I do hope people clicked to expand the view. It mades such a difference in photos.

    1. Hi Rose, thanks for your lovely words! I should mention in my post to click on the photos to see them bigger. You are right, you can see much more detail.
I really have to restrain myself and not include more sky photos. We are blessed to live in an area with no large buildings to block the views!
Take care and have a nice weekend!

    1. Hi Mitchell, thanks for your compliments! It is darn cold! We just arrived home from our walk. The windchill is -15! I think of you doing the day sometimes and imagine how nice it is in Spain.
I am surprised how many people have not seen a black squirrel before. Just part of everyday life here.
      Enjoy your weekend!

  12. I love the picture of the partly albino Robin ( I forget what you called it) and many years ago DH and I were walking in a marsh area and were fortunate to see one too.
The moon picture was worth getting cold for and the shadow one is very interesting. I must see if I could do that with my point & shoot.

    1. Hi G.M, hope you had a nice day. I have been lucky over the years to have seen a few albino Robins and once a Bluejay. They are so unusual looking.
I must have taken 20 shots of the moon over two nights. Most of them were blurry as I was shivering. This one was the best of the bunch.
Looking forward to seeing your shadow shot!
      Have a good weekend!

  13. Your photos are lovely. The squirrels are cute. Little scamps. I'm glad they are getting enough to eat.
I didn't know albino robins even existed!
We had sun here today...but are now under a storm watch.
    Take good care =)

    1. Hi Maggie, thanks for your kind words! I do have such a soft spot for squirrels. I know people say they are just rats with fluffy tails (which I guess basically is true!) but everyone needs to eat.
I have been lucky enough to see a few albino birds over the years.
I heard your area of Ontario was under a storm watch. We received nothing here.
Have a good weekend. Give your two a snuggle for me!
