"What's New Pussycat?"
Not very much! As you can see Miss Kitty is not amused with the continuing rain. She pops in for a snack and a snooze a few times a day.
The water levels have come down a bit here but not for some other people.
Can't be much fun searching for food while you are drenched!
Normally these trees are not under water.
We paid Mum a visit on Saturday. She is now permanently on oxygen but feels so much better. She sounded like her old self. She can leave the oxygen unit in one spot and with the long hose (?) can move around her whole apartment. It was lovely to spend time with her.
On a sad note one of my Uncles passed away last week. My Uncle Bill was only 66 but had been in a wheelchair since the age of 4 after an accident where his spine was severed. He was my Dad's youngest brother and looked the most like him. We had kept in contact through Facebook for years and I so enjoyed it.
I was in Trenton on Friday and stopped by the waterfront to see how high the water was. Do you see the line of concrete on the right side of the photo? Normally that is a couple feet ABOVE the water. I am sure this grocery store was getting a bit concerned.
Looking towards the yacht club.
One of the adult Mourning Doves with a young one.
It didn't take long for the squirrels to find the "new to me" feeder!
Little female Cowbird out in the rain.
I mentioned in a comment awhile ago about my Dad's red tulips. Here is one of the beds in front of our house. That is Simon in front with Sonya in back and my Mum on the steps. This must be in the early 1970's.
As you can see our trees are finally coming out.
We are hopefully at the end of this rainy cycle. This time last year we were already quite warm. When Chuck and I walk at 5:30 in the morning we are still wearing hats and mitts!
Have a wonderful week!
Robin

The weather seems odd all over the world. We are getting short of water over here in uk, many rivers are very very low and others are lower than they should be. We haven't had hardly any rain through tht winter. Watch out, when we get some it will probably flood everywhere because the ground is so hard. Hope you get some dry soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the cats.
Briony

Hi Briony, I didn't realize you were so dry in your area. Difficult now with farmers wanting to plant. Why do we
Deletehave to have such extremes in the weather?
Hope you get some rain soon!
Take care.
It is nice to see your trees budding finally. We have had some rainy, windy/cold days but thankfully the sun is out this week. I love your dad's tulips and Miss Kitty is so sweet. She has the right idea to cat nap during the rain. The flooding is frightening. And of course, I have blog friends in FL who cannot even drive due to smoke from wildfires. They need the rain so badly. I am thankful your Mom is better on the oxygen. My sympathy in the loss of your Uncle. I know you will greatly miss him. Take care and enjoy the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHi Mildred, it seems to have taken forever for the trees to come out. As I type this the sun is finally blazing and we expect a couple days of sunny weather.
DeleteThank you for your kind words about my Mum and Uncle. My Uncles passing was very sudden so we all were shocked.
Wish we could send some of our rain down to Florida!
Have a good day Mildred.
I hope the water levels soon will recede. All the poor critters...and humans affected too. That's a good shot of the wet squirrel!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your mum's doing much better now, but am so sorry about your uncle's passing. I imagine that he and your dad are together again in some way, and keeping watch over you. (((Hugs)))
Here's to some warmer weather, if we're lucky. I've been bundled in winter mitts and scarf since Sunday, but at least I didn't have to wear rubber boots today.
Hi Kim, thankfully the water has started to recede quite a bit and now with two days of no rain coming up, it should recede further.
DeleteThanks for your lovely words about my Uncle. I do picture him with my Dad and his parents and siblings that passed before him.
Still looks like great weather for your visit!!!
See you soon!
I am so sorry for the loss of your Uncle Bill. Your photos are gorgeous. I am glad that the oxygen is helping your mother and that she feels better. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thank you for your kind words.
DeleteIt was such a relief to see my Mum feeling so much better. We all were so worried!
Hope everything is good for you in Montreal!
It was 32 degrees F this morning! Yikes, and I too am wearing a hat and scarf when I go out for my evening walks...even tho' I see neighbors in flip-flops and shorts as I walk past. In Michigan, once it hits 70 degrees, some people refuse to change out of their summer clothes even when temps dip back down again. I refuse to get a head-cold because of stubbornness like that. Your Uncle Bill is whole again, in heaven. It's great that your mom feels better.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, it was 32 here this morning with a heavy frost. That is so funny about people wearing shorts in this cool weather. I know Chuck has a hard time giving up his shorts once Fall hits!
DeleteThank you for your kind word about my Uncle Bill. You teared me up! It is lovely to think he could walk again.
Take care!
I am glad your mother is doing well, and I am sorry to hear about your uncle.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. This was a good news, bad news post.
DeleteEnjoy your new kittens!
your doves are so sweet, sorry to hear about your Uncle and glad your mum is doing good with the oxygen. my hubbies sister had that long hose for many years, she even did housework dragging it across the floor. miss kitty has gorgeous blue eyes and they match her towel.. hope your rain stops and starts here...
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, My Mum seems quite accustomed to the long hose and was whizzing around her apartment.
DeleteI know how desperately you need rain. I wish I could send you some!
Thanks for your condolences.
Take care.
Ohhhhhh, the look of Miss Kitty, would scare a big, burly man!!!!! -grinnnn-
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, even though there has been so much rain.
Rain here also, but we don't have any flooding around here. No low spots or ponds, etc. Actually, our rains have been the nice-spring-more-gentle kind. But the days and days of gray skies are getting depressing. -sigh-sigh-sigh-
We saw a man, doing grass cutting on a mower yesterday... With heavy coat and hat pulled down over his ears! And the spring fruit trees are in blossom. That a contrast!!!!!
Hi Luna, Miss Kitty is rather intimidating but underneath she is a big snuggle bug! Glad someone is enjoying gentle Spring rains. I destroyed a pair of shoes because of the rain. My pretty rubber boots sprung a leak so I couldn't wear them!
DeleteToday the sun is blazing and the moon was gorgeous early this morning.
Have a wonderful day!
trout twoozday wavez two ewe miss kitty; yur lookin gorgeouz az all wayz
ReplyDelete=^..^=
Robin, my sincerest sympathies to you and your family; your uncle was young..
I am sorry ♥♥♥
I am glad to hear your mom's doing much better ~~ ! ♥♥
Miss Kitty is gorgeous! All the male kitties just love her.
DeleteThank you for your condolences, I really appreciate it.
Mum is stable for now but each year she has a setback. I guess when you are 83 it is to be expected.
Have a good day!
Miss Kitty has the most beautiful blue eyes!!! And yes, that poor squirrel DOES look a bit forlorn.
ReplyDeleteI hope the rain stops soon so the flooding doesn't get any worse. Meanwhile, we REALLY could use a lot of that rain. We are beyond dry down here with no rain in sight this week.
Prayers for your Mom. I'm glad the oxygen is making her feel more like herself again.
Hi Dee, Miss Kitty is a looker! I grew up with Siamese(obviously since I posted the photo of Simon and Sonya!) and am accustomed to them. They can be a handful!
DeleteTHe opposite ends of the continent are having such different weather. I hope you receive some rain soon.
Thank you for your prayers.
Be well!
Hi Robin!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
I feel bad for that wet black squirrel! Poor little guy!
That's A LOT of rain. I hope things dry up very soon!
Gorgeous tulips! What a nice memory.
Hi Pom Pom, thank you for your kind words.
DeleteThe squirrel was digging up various spots in our lawn and finding his buried peanuts. I watched for a few minutes and he unearthed quite a few.
I do have a big soft spot for red tulips. I always think of my Dad when I see them.
Enjoy your day!
Glad to hear your Mom is doing better, but sorry about your uncle.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the sun for a few days, but they say the lake levels are still rising!
Hi Valerie, lucky you having the sun! The few hundred kms difference in our locations makes a difference in the weather.
DeleteIt is crazy how high Lake Ontario is! I must go down and check to see if it has lowered at all at the store in my photo.
Take care.
The weather is certainly challenging us. Perhaps some frost tonight. I'm bundling up n the mornings too. I did get ouside for a bit this afternoon, but it was chilly.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, we had a heavy frost here this morning had to scrape the car windows. I got out in the gardens yesterday afternoon too. I had a hat on for awhile but eventually took it off.
DeleteThe sun is blazing this morning so it will be pleasant to work outside today.
Have a good day!
Miss Kitty is so cute...sorry your mom has to be on oxygen, but glad it is available and helps her feel normal. And so sorry your lost your uncle. That squirrel looks a bit like he has been drug through a knothole backwards...water is still up around here. I think it is going to take a while for the river to get back within the banks.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, we are so happy Mum is feeling better. Some days she was finding it difficult to talk, she just couldn't catch her breathe.
DeleteI haven't heard that expression in years! "Drug through a knothole backwards" My Mum's parents used it often!
On the radio they were suggesting it could be a month before the farmers could plant. Terrible!
Take care Rose.
Weird weather everywhere. Sorry about your uncle. I know I miss mine.
ReplyDeleteHi Joni, the weather is wacky everywhere!
DeleteThanks for your kind words. I don't have many Uncles left. Al but one of my Dad's four brothers are gone and most of his sisters husbands are gone too. My Uncle looked so much like my Dad it was comforting.
Have a good day.
I had one of those feeders once!
ReplyDeleteIt's a mess, isn't it? Hope for sun soon!
I could send you my book. I wrote about caring for my mom.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is lovely!
Hi Jenn, I am so sick of sloshing around with perpetually wet feet!
DeleteThe sun is blazing today so I will get out and enjoy it.
I imagine your book is quite interesting!
Have a great day!
Sorry to hear that your uncle passed away. Sorry too about all the crazy rain you've gotten. Is there no end?? Hopefully there will be, and soon.
ReplyDeleteMiss Kitty appears to be giving you the evil eye but no doubt she's half asleep.
Take care and hope for good weather.
Hi Granny Marigold, thank you for your kind words. I have been hearing about the flooding in Kelowna, it is everywhere this year!
DeleteMiss Kitty was just dozing. She does give a good stink eye though especially when she is not happy with the food being offered!
The sun is big and bright this morning so I will get out and enjoy it.
Hope your day is nice too!
I so admire people who get out and go walking so early in the morning. "What's New Pussycat?" Well, it appears that the answer is not "Rain." You captured that feeling so well with some great photos. I especially like, Miss Kitty, both mourning dove shots, and the yacht club. I'm sure your mother enjoyed the visit as much as you did!
ReplyDeleteHi Chip Butter, I have always been a morning person and a walker so early morning walks are heaven to me.
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed the photos!
Mum tires easily but we do love seeing her. I always bring her a big bag of books as she is a great reader like me and we enjoy the same kind of books.
Have a good day!
Really good news about your mum, but sad news about your uncle. Ah, life and all the ups and downs. Hope the rain lets up soon and you and all the critters have lots of sunshine. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, life certainly has it's ups and downs. My Mum still is on the list for a nursing home but nothing is definite yet.
DeleteWe have had two days of sun, it is lovely!
Take care!
Hey Robin! So sorry to hear about your uncle. Glad that your mom is doing better! That much rain can get a little depressing. Hope it clears up soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Henny, nice to hear from you! Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Virginia.
DeleteHave a good day!
Glad your mom is doing better on the oxygen (my moms on it too) but sorry to hear about your uncle.
ReplyDeleteMiss Kitty's blue eyes match the towel!!
Ah so much rain. Hope you get many days of sun to dry things up a bit.
Hi Karen, Mum is doing a bit better but I wonder when the next crisis will come.
DeleteMiss Kitty does have the most gorgeous eyes! I am partial to Siamese though.
The rain seems to have let up for now. Hope we can dry out now.
Be well!
Miss Kitty looks comfy despite no sunpuddles but hopefully she can snooze in one soon! Her eyes are so pretty! So much water! Our spring is delayed because of rainy, colder weather too. Wish it'd hurry up and get here!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your Uncle's passing. Sending comforting purrs. Glad your mum is doing better though!
Good news about your mom.
ReplyDeleteI had a bird feeder like that once!
The water is so high! Scary. I love all the photos and the old tulip photo as well!
