"I Say a Little Prayer"

This little guy (gal?) may have been praying I would pop outside with a few peanuts for him/her. It worked because I did!
This little bird sat on the dining room windowsill for a minute or so a few days ago. Is it a warbler???
Mr Squirrel doesn't look like he has the answer.
This silly Robin is still jumping up at the mirror on a daily basis. This has been going on since late March.
A new batch of young ones are at the feeders. The parent in the front kept shoving sunflower seeds into the young one.
My friend Janice and her hubby Keith both lost their mothers within a couple months of each other last year. Both ladies possessions were doled out to various family members. Janice got quite a bit of jewelry from both ladies. Janice is not a big jewelry person, wearing pretty much the same rings, necklace and earrings every day. She knows I love anything old so passed along to me a few items. Janice's mum loved ducks so had these pins made out of wood to wear on her jackets.
This locket had been Keith's Moms. It was given to her from the family to celebrate Keith's parents 25th wedding anniversary.
Snowdrops I think!
There were many pins. I do wear them on my jackets so will love having a few to choose from.
Very glamorous! This was Janice's Moms.
There were a few pairs of earrings too, all clip on, something I have never worn.
Saturday morning I could have used a wagon or something similar on our walk. A number of people must have been cleaning out sheds and basements. I picked up a couple bushel baskets to use for Fall decorating but had to go back with the car for this. A pair of very old shutters were put in a local communal wood pile. I didn't want to be greedy so only took one. It is pegged together with wooden pegs, not a nail or screw anywhere. There appear to be three layers of paint, first green, then red and lastly white. Chuck hung it up in my little courtyard at the side of the house
A mixed bag of weather the last week or so. I took this early one morning over a neighbours house.
Can anyone tell me what kind of bird this is? I took these photos early one morning while it was still rather dark. I just lightened them up a bit. He definitely had orange legs and feet.
I thought maybe an immature heron????
So clear one morning I managed to get a few good shots of the moon.

Chuck recently signed on to a full time position at his work so no more contracts!!! Finally some vacation time,  sick days, family days, etc..... Right now the plan is just to work for a couple more years or however long his shoulder holds out. I will not love getting up at 5:30 on the cold Winter mornings but we know it isn't for long.

Have a good day!
Robin

    1. Hi Pam, glad you enjoyed the photos of the jewelry! I usually wear a pin on my jean jackets in the Spring and Fall so it will be nice to have a few different ones to choose from.
      Take care.

  2. Hello, I love all the birds, cute chipmunk and the squirrel. Your pins are beautiful. I think the bird in the last two photos may be a Green Heron? Enjoy your day and the week ahead!

    1. Hi Eileen, I thought it must be a heron by the way it looked when it flew off. It was in the neighbours pine tree a few days ago. Thanks for letting me know what it is!
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  3. I love to look at vintage jewelry. These are pretty and unique pieces. You may could get a jeweler to make the clip earrings into something else. I love your critter pics and the moon, too. Have a blessed evening.

    1. Hi Mildred, I do love vintage jewelry too. Janice wanted me to have them as she knew I will wear them and appreciate them. I didn't even think about taking the earrings to a jeweler, thanks for suggesting it!
      Have a lovely evening too!

  4. The jewelry is lovely, wonderful to have. I'm not a brooch person, either, though have worn some, mostly in younger years when I worked at Town & Country and had to dress up. I remember my grandmother (dad's mom) had screw-on earrings. Can't imagine they're comfy, but you never know! You'll find out. :-)

Great capture on the young heron (?), and of course on all your critters.

Great find, too, on the shutters. I'd have taken both, I think. Ha.

Oh, the moon -- love that shot too. I haven't even seen the moon lately. Haven't seen much of anything lately, am flat-out beyond-exhausted with work right now. So it's a delight to see your post!

    1. Hi Kim, I was surprised Janice was getting rid of most of the jewelry. She took a bagful to an auction house in Belleville along with many other items from both Moms. My Mum's Mum always wore screw/clip on earrings but Dad's Mum never wore earrings.
I was putting the garbage out last Thursday when I saw this largish bird flop into a tree on Mark and Linda's front lawn. I couldn't quite make out what it was so dashed in the house and grabbed my camera and ran into the guest room to snap a photo. When it flew off I thought it looked like a heron but normally we seem to have the blue heron here. I believe the ladies are right and it is a green heron.
Hope it calms down for you at work soon!
      Take care.

  5. Wow, you packed nearly a week's worth of things, into one post!!!

The jewelry is lovely, and so nice, that you will love and use them.

Hooray for a more scheduled work situation.

The moon is amazing! Lucky you, to take such a photo.

Oh yes, screw on and clip on earrings. :-) That's all I had, till after I was married.

    1. Hi Luna, Janice is incredibly kind to pass along the jewelry to me. She knows I am so sentimental and will wear the items.
We are pleased that Chuck was able to get the permanent position. Contract work is good but you have no benefits although where he works they were very good about time off when Chuck needed it.
I managed to take three pretty decent photos of the moon that morning. My kid camera was behaving!
I can remember wearing a pair of my Grandmothers clip on earrings as a teenager and pulling them off a few hours later. My ears felt pinched! I will try again with the ones Janice gave me.
      Have a good day!

  6. While on my evening walk through the neighborhood, I noticed that almost every house had a big cooler set out at the trash! What's with that? Just like you, it's seems people clean out the same sorts of things at the same time, and I LURV that old shutter. Would have probably taken them both, LOL!

    1. Hi Vicki, it must have been some grand throw out days that we didn't hear about! ; ) I did momentarily think about taking both shutters but I knew how happy I was finding them so I wanted someone else to feel the same way.

I really liked the same pin you did. There is a plainer one too with clear stones that I took too.
Hope you and your family are well!

  9. That is a cute squirrel photo. Lovely pins/brooches. I have quite a collection, used to wear a different one each day to school when I wored, but niw don't wear them much. Good news about hubby's job.

    1. Hi Linda, the chipmunks seem to appear just recently. Along with all the other critters!
I wonder if ladies really wear pins and brooches much anymore. I don't follow any current fashion and just wear what I like.
We are pleased about Chuck's job however long it lasts!
Have a good weekend! I see we are in for a couple showery days.

  10. How sweet and generous of Janice to pass on the jewelry that she didn't want. I'm assuming she doesn't have a daughter or DIL or that they didn't want any of the items.
Then, to top it off, you found those awesome streetside treasures! Lucky you. I like what you did with the old shutter. I wonder if I would have had the restraint to take only one.

    1. Hi Granny Marigold, it was very kind of Janice to pass along the jewelry. She does have a daughter but she showed no interest in any of the jewelry. I think that is too bad. Her daughter has a couple little kids. I think it would have been nice to have a couple pieces saved for when they got older.
I do love my shutter! I hope whoever took the other one gets the same enjoyment I am.
      Have a wonderful weekend!

We are happy that Chuck finally has a permanent position. It was a long process and a hard one. Very few jobs come open but Chuck had put in his time doing 3 years of contract work and proven himself. I am very proud of him!
I too thought it was a heron but wanted all you more knowledge ladies opinion too.

We are feeling very blessed that Chuck was offered the permanent position. With his shoulder injury it isn't possible for him to work at a regular civilian electricians job but at the Air Force base they are happy to accommodate him and his work partner does the really heavy lifting. Everyday though he comes home very sore. We will see how long he can work!
