"Up Around The Bend"
We finally are receiving some Summer like weather and a few days in a row without rain!
I put this lawn chair out on the deck for Miss Kitty and Smokey. Hard to see but one of the black squirrels is enjoying it.
Miss Kitty being silly.
Janice and I had a road trip Sunday afternoon. Our destination was "The Big Apple". A neighbour had mentioned she had purchased a lovely flower pot there so we were on a mission. Along the way we stopped at a few places. One was an antique market. Penny, the cat above, was the greeter. Very loving and wanted lots of attention.
This grey lady was at a great store called "Cree" Wonderful organic beauty products and lovely home furnishings.
Below is the inside cat at "Cree". She is 17 years old and very friendly. I have forgotten both their names!
Janice and I finally made it to "The Big Apple". I can't begin to describe everything that is there. It started out as a restaurant and over 20 years has expanded so many times. This is the view one way from the top of the giant apple. All new apple trees planted with the 401 highway in the background.
Large windows are all around the baking area.
No luck finding the flower pot so we headed out.
A few items at the antique market. Love the old kitchen utensils!
Sweet raccoon planter.
I have the second tin down from the top. I haven"t seen all these sizes at once before.
We meandered home along the back roads and walked along a few beaches.
As the day progressed it got cloudier and cloudier.
But not at my favourite farm market, Rutherford's.
Lovely eyes.
Janice managed to attract his attention and Mr. Llama looked up.
Petting zoo at "the Big Apple". Everything was clean and the animals looked all very well taken care of.
Lots of chipmunks around.
Lots of young animals too.
A great afternoon even though Janice did not find her flower pot. We made it home just as the rain was starting. We both dashed into our backyards and pulled our wash off the lines. The rain was not forecast and was brief but heavy.
Kim is coming for a visit this week. We are bound to get some rain but hopefully not too much.
Have a good week!

Hello, what a wonderful collection of photos. I love the barn and all the farm animals and the sweet kitties. Wishing you a very happy and safe 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, so glad you enjoyed the photos!
DeleteHope you had a great 4th of July.
What a super, wonderful day!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you got home, just in time!!!!!
Happy 4th of July!
Luna Crone
Yes, love all the cats!!!!!!! :-))))))))
ReplyDeleteHi Luna, it was a great day. The bonus was not having our laundry soaked! :)
DeleteTake care!
Smokey looks quite regal in that photo. He doesn't seem too bothered that a squirrel has borrowed HIS chair.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day! Hugs -- DK
Hi Dee, Smokey seems to prefer to sit on the benches along the deck. I guess he can see all around the backyard then.
DeleteHave a good day!
Happy 4th July!
ReplyDeleteI loved accompanying you and Janice on your wonderful trip. I love all the cats and you're right, that duck has the most beautiful eyes. The barn looks wonderfully American, just like those incredible treasure troves I love to watch on American Pickers. xxx
Hi Vix, we had a fun afternoon. We just don't seem to have the great secondhand stores you have that your and your girlfriends visit!
DeleteI would love to poke around in so many of the barns we pass by. Someday maybe I will get up the nerve to ask!
Have a good week.
This must have been a great day. I love the kitties, oh, and how funny that the squirrel is stretched out in the lawn chair. That rooster is a handsome fellow!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, it was a wonderful day. I was so shocked to see the squirrel lounging on the chair. I just had enough time to take a few photos and he was gone.
DeleteHope all is well with you.
That sounds like such a fun day. I love driving and going in different shops. Who is the kitty in the first picture. He is absolutely beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Henny Penny, I too love to hit the road and visit different places. You never know what you will see!
DeleteThe kitty is Smokey, another stray tomcat. Very skittish but Miss Kitty and he hang around together.
Enjoy your week!
Sweet cats! Hope you are enjoying a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteHi Mildred, they were all sweet cats. It was a cat filled day that's for sure.
DeleteTake care.
All in all a good and productive day it seems. I had to do a double take on that squirrel relaxing like that, I thought it was a cat at first!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day even if we didn't get what Janice was searching for. I couldn't believe my eyes when I noticed the squirrel lounging on the lawn chair either. Silly thing!
DeleteBe well!
Oh, such a wonderful outing! You know I'm all over the critters--from the cats to the sheep and everything/everyone in between. Love the squirrel making himself (or herself) at home on the lawn chair -- ha! Miss Kitty was being a very silly girl there, such a great pic of her. Great old kitchen utensils. Where are the old barn implements, old harnesses, etc.? LOL. Not as collectible, more's the pity. BTW, I bet the Big Apple kitchen is a hot as Hades, poor staff.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you both!
Hi Kim, Janice and I did have fun. You and I sure did too. So glad you were able to come down. I am already planning the next trip!
DeleteSee you in a few weeks!
We've had nothing but sunshine recently. I wouldn't mind one rainy day. One. Your photos are a joy! Looks like a great day.
ReplyDeleteHi Mitchell, Hope you have received some rain by now. We are supposed to have another week of up and down weather.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the photos!
You had a beautiful day! I'm glad you made it home in time to take the clothes off the line!
ReplyDeleteHi Pom Pom, we did have a joyous day! I am blessed to have a few really good friends that share many of the same interests as me.
DeleteHave a good week!
You and Janice had quite a full and interesting day!! The best kind.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some more sunny days. After all the rain we had all Spring now we're now dried out and wishing for a day or two of rain. Water restrictions are already in effect and will get more rigorous as the drought continues.
Hi Granny Marigold, I have been thinking of you these last few days. Hope all is o.k. in your part of B.C.
DeleteTake care.
Beautiful series, Robin! I love all the animals and views!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, glad you enjoyed all the animals. I have to restrain myself from taking even more photos, they are so cute.
Deletehave a great week!
Another excellent photo journal. The animals are all gorgeous. So nice to encounter a 'greeter' cat. Unfortunately, my rescue cat, Ellie Mae, though super relaxed with me is terrified when she sees another human. Just an unfortunate side of her personality and I know nothing of her background.
ReplyDeleteThe animals were all wonderful. Our first cat loved everyone and was very social. We had him right from a kitten though. Our second cat who we adopted at three years of age was frightened of strangers. I assume something happened to make her so frightened.
DeleteEnjoy your week!
I am loving every single critter pic you took, so many different ones. love the EYE on the goose and the silly squirrel in the chair and Smokey in the first is an amazing cat to me, like a big panther but not black. you sure got to see a lot of animals and I all about animals.
ReplyDeleteforgot to say my grand parents and my Mom and dad had almost all those antiques on the table. daddy made his own sausage with one of those grinders
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, glad you enjoyed all the animals. It seems like so many of us are animal lovers. Smokey is very majestic but he is a fraidy cat though!
DeleteIt is always interesting to see common household items classified as antiques now.
Hope everything is going well with you and Bob.
I just love shop cats :) while I'm sorry your mission was a 'fail' since you didn't find the pot, I'm sure you had a lot of fun. I hope you and Kim have lovely weather for your visit
ReplyDeleteShop cats are great! A paint store we visit has a resident cat who is very sweet.
DeleteKim and I had perfect weather for her visit. That is three for three now weatherize. I am sure one of her visits we will have rainy weather. She is coming again in the Fall. We will see then!
Take care.
waves two all ewe catz !!! hope yur week a head iz grate !!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your visit with Kim this week; I know you both will have an awesome
time !!!! thanx for sharing these photos; I didn't mention the you know whats
to you know who ! :) ♥♥☺☺
The kitties had a good week, thank you very much!
DeleteKim and I had a wonderful visit as always. We are lucky we enjoy so many of the same things. It is hard to pick what to do each day as there is so much to do!
Take care.
Isn't it fun taking a little vacation so near to home? And greeter cats are wonderful! So far this summer, I've left my car windows open twice, and gotten the inside of the car wet due to unforeseen downpours. AND have been rained on while out on my evening walk. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, We are very fortunate to live where we do. Very rural but big cities just an hour away. The weather forecasters can not seem to forecast the weather too accurately lately. I hung out wash today despite a rain forecast and nothing has happened so far.
DeleteStay dry!
Looks like a lovely little adventure. You sure so see some beautiful kitty cats and other wonderful furry critters!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, I enjoy adventures close to home. Not too much driving. It was a critter day that's for sure.
DeleteEnjoy your week!
That looks like a fun place to visit! We love seeing all the kitties! The squirrel in the chair made us giggle!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Angel & Isabella
Hi Angel and Isabella, glad you enjoyed the squirrel in the chair. I am surprised he sat there as Miss Kitty loves to sleep there and it must have smelt like her!
DeleteHave a good day!
After all that and NO FLOWER POT??? Haha...but the trip was well worth it anyway wasn't it? Backroads are my fav, the beach would be awesome but I live to far away. Loving the animals. I would have been making all over them. I love animals! Looks like you had a great time...
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, no, not a flower pot in sight! It was worth it anyway. I discovered a beautiful new beach that Kim and I visited later in the week. The animals were lovely to see and we found the antique market I had been wanting to visit for a long time.
DeleteHave a great week!
What a great day you had in spite of not finding the flowerpot!!
ReplyDeleteThat squirrel made himself right at home!!
Enjoyed all your wonderful photos.
Hi Karen, it was a terrific day in spite of not finding a flower pot. Hopefully Janice will find what she wants soon.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the photos!
We love visiting the Big Apple, always seem to indulge in too much food when there. Glad you made it home just before the rain started. We've had a few nice days but it seems the rain is coming back.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I hadn't been to The Big Apple in 20 years. I was surprised how much bigger it was. Janice is on a strict diet so we actually had no food there beyond a few samples they were giving out. Much better for the waistline!
DeleteEnjoy your week!
I love it when there are kitty greeters at stores and such =)
ReplyDeleteCheeky squirrel taking over the chair meant for your felines!
Have a great visit with your friend.
Hi Maggie, I do love cat greeters too. A couple bookstores we visit have them too along with our local paint store.
DeleteKim and I had a great visit. Looking forward to her coming again.
Hope your week is good.
So many lovely photos and lots of beautiful animals. It sounds like the squirrel thinks your furniture is being put out for him especially! Chipmunk was particularly cute xx
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, glad you enjoyed the photos! The squirrel was pretty cheeky taking over the lawn chair. They are very bold here.
DeleteThe chipmunks are very tame and sweet too.
Take care!
