"Houses In Motion"

Goodness, where does the time go? I looked at my blog this morning and realized it has been over two weeks since I last posted.
The days seem to fly by so quickly.
August already and it seems the Summer just begun.
We have been "enjoying" hot, humid weather for the last couple weeks. Today a cold front is to move in and cool us off for the next couple weeks.
Last Sunday at 6:00 am this home was moved from one lot to another across town. The owners are building a new house on the old lot and donated the house to Habitat For Humanity. A lot was donated so a family will shortly be living in this lovely home.
The birds are as busy as ever at the feeders.
Taken earlier the same morning as the house moving photo.
Storm over Lake Ontario.
Tanner, our local paint store cat. He had a hemo-something or other on his ear and was a pretty miserable cat for a time. It is now cured and he is such a snuggle bug.
Janice and I paid a visit to Ste. Anne's Spa last Monday. Janice and her daughter had stayed there 20 years ago and Janice remembered they have a delicious bakery on site.
The Spa has changed quite a bit in 20 years! It is a very large complex with extensive gardens. After wandering around for 10 minutes or so (after a ten minute drive up a long and winding gravel road) we finally found the reception building.
We were warmly welcomed and told that the bakery is now situated in a separate house off site. Then we were invited to tour the grounds and encouraged to visit the various buildings.
The gardens are beautiful and wonderfully kept.
No idea what this plant is!
We spent a pleasant 45 minutes or so enjoying everything and looked up and noticed this storm had blown in. We quickly headed back to the car and found the bakery. Janice purchased some gluten free five grain bread ($9.95 a loaf!!!) and we headed home.
It rained heavily for 20 minutes or so but by the time we got to my favourite farm stand Rutherford's it had stopped. A quick visit with the llama's before we headed inside to purchase some fruit and veggies.
Smokey (in the back) seems to be feeling more comfortable around us now. Cortes still pays flying visits every once in awhile. I saw Punkin from a distance a couple days ago. I haven't seen Sweet Pea in a couple months and Snowball in about a month.
So many chickadees visit daily. Love to hear their twittering!
I think I took this a few days ago!
We don't get many planes this low over the house too often.
Wouldn't be a post of mine without a squirrel shot!

I hope you all are well and enjoying the Summer or Winter depending on where you are.

Take care!
Robin

  1. Nice to see a post, Robin! As always, I love the pics, especially the first sky shot and the stormy one with the field.

How generous, to donate the house to Habitat for Humanity, that's wonderful. It's great to hear (read) about something good -- heaven knows we don't get much of that in the media.

The spa looks wonderful, the gardens are gorgeous. Of course you were invited to look around! Potential bu$ine$$. Ha. I hope that loaf of bread was the best Janice has eaten in her entire life, for that price. :-)

Both llamas out was nice, you stopped at the right time.

See you guys in a couple of days. I'm SO looking forward to the break in this humidity!

    1. Hi Kim, re: the first photo-I kept forgetting to bring my camera when I noticed it was a bit foggy. The fog seems to settle on the field by the goose pond down the road. I think I only took one photo and hoped for the best!
Nice to see you on Sunday!

  3. That was a lovely thing, for those new home builders, to do!!!

    Gorgeous photos.

Yes, Gluten Free Bread can be expensive, but worth it. To do it "right," takes much investigation into proper measurements of this and that... I have never been able to do it, at home. Tooo many necessary ingredients, for a loaf... Or for a dessert.

But I'm sure, she will say, it was worth the money. :-)))))))

  5. Your mystery plant is a Sea Holly. They are originally from the Mediterranean, but over the last while they've become more popular as they attract butterflies. I put one in my garden this year, but it hasn't bloomed yet.

    1. Hi Valerie, thanks so much for identifying the plant for me. There was great swaths of it and come to think of it quite a few butterflies.
      Hope yours blooms soon!

  7. I was getting worried about you and wondered if anything was wrong so it's great to have you post again!
That house that the Spa is in is so darn adorable. I like everything about it. Those wonderful Coneflowers, were they on those grounds or in your garden? I struggle to grow them. I have exactly 3 plants and those are not where I put them so birds must have dropped seeds. I find the volunteers much more apt to thrive.
Nice picture of the storm brewing over the field.
    Have an enjoyable long weekend!!

I hadn't seen red coneflowers either until I noticed them at a neighbours. They are lovely.

    1. Hi Maggie, the storm over Lake Ontario photo was one of about 20 I took. It was actually raining a bit. Janice was in the car while I stood out on the pier. It started thundering and lightening shortly after I took it. People were still swimming in the water as it was lightening!
Ste. Anne's Spa is fabulous. We were given a price list of the services. They start at $75.00 for a half hour. Yikes!
      Have a good day!

    1. Hi Mitchell, it is interesting how our taste in homes changes. I always wanted a High Ranch home. When we lived in Nova Scotia that was what we had. Never again, too many stairs!
Thanks for your kind words about my photos!
